White Gold / Blue Daytona 116509

What are your thoughts on the now discontinued 116509 Blue? Even more of a grail / hype beast now it’s not obtainable from an AD, or not so much, as it played second fiddle the the YG/ Green?
Pic to help you decide…

Sharp reference. Personally gravitate more towards the YG Green Dial “John Mayer”, but not because of the hype.

very much a fan. Pic of when I picked it up about 5 years ago.

I find It more wearable than the YG Green, as in it flies under the radar better and the blue dial is equally as nice and probably timeless.

Good question, and hard to predict. The 116509 with blue dial is a stunning watch. I don't think you'll ever see the hype pricing of the YG/Green, however, should be a solid bet for the future.

How’s it looking 5 years on? I find it to be such a scratch magnet.

It's a beautiful watch with a beautiful dial and a larger, symmetrical case in (my preferred) WG

The YG/green is also a beautiful watch with a beautiful dial in smaller asymmetrical case (that I can't "unsee") in my least favourite PM colour.

The yellow/green hype over the other PM Daytonas was instigated by nothing more one person of celebrity/talented status (a sad refection of society today)

As a result even though it is to me the far nicer watch, it will most likely never reach the "desirability" of the YG/green

Love Daytonas, love blue dials, but this one never did it for me personally. I’ve had it on my wrist, wasn’t a fan.

I rotate between other watches quite a lot so it's still in top condition. Plenty of fine lines on the PCL's and a couple of scuffs on the bracelet and a small dent but other than that, all is good.

Too bad they don't offer this blue dial on a steel Daytona.

That would be insanely popular!!

Have had countless opportunities to buy this but passed each time. I think the dial is too dark and the contrast isnt there

Never cared much for it but for me it pales in comparison to the YG green dial.

I wonder how a yellow gold with blue dial would look?

I have this and love it....but the blue dial is redundant in my collection; so just last week I was looking at a trade towards a Patek 5935a and the value just wasn't there....

Then to my surprise they discontinue it....sooooo....maybe I sit tight for a bit.

Hard to say where value ends up tho....

I've always been quite surprised how soft the value is of this one. Must be the WG element of it (although OF vs which I have also does well).

I wear my YG Green far less than this actually, but people went mad about that ref.

I like it actually moreso than the JM. Looks sportier than the aforementioned.

I have been on the list for over 2 years. And I know if one comes in I would get first call. They must be extremely rare. The AD just does not get them in.

Very sleek looking watch and is a beautiful combination. Much prefer this version to the green/gold.

I love it. I tried one on a few months ago. If I was fortunate enough to be able to own two PM watches, it would be in the running.

Has the steel dial 116509 (which is the version I own) also been discontinued? I can't seem to find a clear answer online.

Where have you been looking?

Ok, so subtle changes, different end links, new movement, etc but essentially very similar to yours.
