I second that. Their service in cost is fantastic relative to brand with high-end finishes.

I don't know too many watch manufacturers will throw in polishing for precious metal pieces.

anyone have the Master Control Chronograph with the sector dial? Would love to see a detailed review, & how it wears as a potential daily driver.

I find it classically beautiful & contemporary at the same time; JLC hit it out of the park with that one.

It doesn't help when it doesn't have contours on the case sides. At 42mm wide 12mm thick, it's 1mm wider and 2mm thicker than a 15510 royal oak. I think we also get used to PQ watches as higher horology, and hence in thinner form.

Why are JLC market values so low?

The service cost for a Duometre with polishing is less than 2k.

A Zeitwerk is over 5,300 with polishing...

JLC is the best known secret of horology without the “flex” or hype.

I recently acquired my 1st JLC piece...Master Compressor Geographic.

I wasn't a fan of the original bracelet so I put on a sail cloth strap.
If you buy used, I think they are a great value.
I would love to see them bring back the deep sea line, as I think they were the best looking watches JLC produced. Or maybe do a re-issue.

The USA is not high on the geographical map for JLC. They lack the mega bucks for a sustained, concerted ad campaign. It is very expensive to advertise in the USA. JLC history in the watch universe, lies not so much in models, but movements. Their movement designs, and quality made them the “go-to” when a watch firm needed a movement. The list included, Patek Philippe, AP, VC, and numerous others wanting to insert a top quality movement into a special case.

For a couple of reasons:

- This is going to sound controversial but JLC, if they are known by the general watch-buying public it is for the Reverso. And to the untrained-eye those very same watches may not be an obvious luxury watch
- They haven't really got a sports watch that appeals to the wider Joe Public watch community

My wife truly wants a JLC since she saw it on the TV series 'Halt And Catch Fire', she wants one big time. Want to get her one at some point, yet it'll have to be an older model as she is smart and knows a properly decorated movement when she sees it. We know in 2000 Richemont took an interest in JLC....

Which current JLC Reverso reference(s) have a very nicely decorated movement with a normal dial front (white preferred) and a display back with a properly-decorated movement?

On the older model front, so far the best seems to be the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso 270.2.63 Sun / Moon ... Night / Day Power Reserve (~$14k). What does JLC currently manufacture that compares with the complications, value, and has a display back like that of the 270.2.63 (Q2752420)? Am honestly curious, because have been looking.

Any other pre-Richemont-influenced JLC models with a white face, nicely decorated movement, and display back that someone here can recommend? A good example of the below is the 'benchmark'. Am very much open to suggestions.

i like jlc but not enough to buy one. my favorite is the ultra thin perpetual. the doctor strange watch.

i think the issue is the brand identity other than the reverso is lacking.

yes they are known for being the watchmakers watchmaker. but that is similar to parmigani.

The new Reverso chrono is on my radar. I asked my AD if they can get it for me but I think it’s boutique only. A shame really….

Is that confirmed?

Regardless I checked one out in person and it’s really nice. A little large but sporty enough that the size didn’t bother me. I put my name down on the list but I’m guessing I won’t see it until late 2024 early 2025.

Not confirmed yet, she still hasn’t gotten back to me and I’m sure the buyer has left the show so it might take a bit.

I did see a YouTube video by a SA who was at the show and they wouldn’t even let him handle the piece because they said there was no point as it was boutique only.

I saw it in person at the JLC boutique in NYC but I didn’t even think to ask if it was exclusive. They did say the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and they are gonna try and get as many out as they can but there will be a delay. I hope you’re able to get it through your AD. It’s a lovely watch.

If it is boutique only I’m not sure if I’ll get one. I’m going to Vegas a couple times this year but once is for F1 and it’s going to be a mad house. If I have to deal with boutique nonsense it makes me wonder if it’s worth it because JLC isn’t a brand where I’d like a long ten relationship to continue to buy from them.

A year and a half wait is ridiculous. It might be worth it for something that retains value but not something that’s going to trade for half.

For the new steel chrono, it is boutique only with 100 pieces to be delivered for 2024.

I've put my name down for one in London and they said I should expect something by Dec-23 (Christmas).

London Bond Street has 6 to be allocated. Not sure how many Harrod's has.

In Hong Kong, they're refusing to put people onto the list anymore - the PP boutique said there are around 20 people on the list.

Someone on reddit said Shanghai's out but Melbourne's still open.

Guess JLC / Richemont don't want their watches to trade for half... LOL

Well good knowledge then. I think if I’m going to have to go boutique I’d rather do it with AP where there’s a greater chance I’ll want additional pieces in the future.

This seems to be the way most brands are going. Less availability at ADs and more watches being boutique exclusives.
