I would do this trade bc 5740 feels very special on wrist. You have to wear 5740 to feel it.
The weight, size, this amazing blue dial, slimness and its complication top dog of nautilus line. |

Yes, I would do that trade with the third watch being the 5167 and keep the 5164. The 5740 and 5164 will be the best of all worlds.
I have the 5740 so there is a bias….but I feel this is the pinnacle of the nautilus line while remaining true to Patek’s ethos and Gerald Genta’s original design. I have most of the nautilus models as a point of comparison, but this is the one. As far as future collectibility, I also believe this will go down in the history books as one of their best iterations when they discontinue it. It is a true collector piece. That all being said, does the watch speak to you? This is the real question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It does, love the look and heft of the watch. Only reason would be trading is to keep the Misses happy.....and feel would be easier later to re-aquire those if desired

Not sure if those 3 pieces are going to get you the 5740 though.

If not, then yeah I would totally do that 3 for 1 trade. You're basically upgrading the 5712 to a 5740, getting rid of an unnecessary watch (overseas dual time) and still getting to keep an aquanaut. It's a no brainer in my mind. 5740 will be much more of a collectible than any of those and is a big boy grand daddy watch to wear. Do it. |

I would. Dont like Nautilus on a strap, VCO does not wear very well, so really you’re just trading an aquanaut fir the 5740 ;-)

Hi all,
Apologise to off track slightly but still on the topic of 5740g. Does any owners or anyone knows if the 5740g changed/upgraded the bracelet/butterfly clasp ever since its introduction during 2018 vs latest piece received in Feb 2023? Hi OP, I will go ahead to make the trade, i just tried the 5811g on my wrist, although its a different reference, both 5740g and 5811g are full white gold with bracelet, the 5811 feels very very special on the wrist and I can only imagine the 5740g on the wrist would be totally sublime. I am going to pull the trigger getting the 5740g in the near future, hope it comes through sooner. Cheers |

In fact the new clasp (with 2 buttons) was introduced with the 5740G and 5968A in 2018. So there shouldn't even be a 5740G with the previous system.

I would do that trade, but miss the 5167 a lot.

I saw and felt the 5811g's clasp in action and would not want to have the 5740g without this new feature. Thanks for all the inputs. Cheers |

I inquired with my AD about upgrading my clasp to one with micro adjustments. He said they don’t sell the clasp separately but I could request the upgrade when it goes off for service in the future. |

Does someone know if the 5712a from 2023 also has the new clasp with micro adjustment?
