Audemars Piguet Certificate of Authenticity

I wanted to let you know about a new discovery that you may have already known, but was new to me.

I ordered a certificate of authenticity for my AP because I lost the plastic warranty card. I still had the initial purchase invoice and was now very surprised that the date on the invoice from the AP Boutique does not match the date on the certificate, which is called "Date de vente". According to AP, the date on the certificate is the date of production, but not the date of sale resulting from the original invoice. Did you know that? There is actually maximum confusion with this.

Wow that’s really nice. I would imagine that would be more coveted than the plastic card. What was the cost?

roughly 4 months but once the invoice date differs from the certificate date its interesting how to sell such pieces as more or less the certifacte cannot be used to verify the original invoice documents

It cost 2500 Euro, so really not cheap. Its a nice display document but if you need it for selling the watch its not worth it as like said you would only confuse people rather than supporting them. I want to keep my piece but still this was interesting to learn

So you sent the watch to Le Brassus? Did you get the "complimentary" service?

No it was just for the certification process, so no service included

Yeah, I misread the text on the AP site Is the watch not registered under your account on the AP website? It seems to me that would provide as much, if not more, assurance as the plastic warranty card.

Of course it’s registered under my name but still the different dates with the same translation are really confusing

2500 euros for a piece of paper... that is obvious a cash grab, leveraging the fact that they think you can sell a watch for more money if you had it, and hence would be more likely to pay for that extra money.

There's a digital archive extract option too at a considerably reduced fee. The watch does not need to go to Le Brassus for this.

It's 2500 Euro for disassembling the watch and checking that all parts are AP original. Expensive, but not just a piece of paper.
