Finally, a tool watch.
I'd buy this if and when available.

It's all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconveniences we have to deal with.

This was the right watch to practice on before they put it on one of the ultra coveted models

If it was 40mm with regular dial markers would be a buy, not a fan of everything oversized (shakes angry old man fist in the air)

Love those bevels tho

This may sound critical but - its a fat sub that looks worse made of a less attractive metal

If they were going titanium it should be tool watch, maybe the explorer 1? Or a new milgauss?

I like the idea of Ti. However, I feel it is a let down that it doesn’t have glidelock. Also, the retail price is much higher than a Submariner.

Very good size. However, it moved away from the higher end positioning of YM relatively to the subs. Looks cheap regardless of how they priced it. Platinum bezel is still better than black ceramic.

I really like the black bezel and have been holding off due to the OF only choices. This is much more doable for me.

I was just at an AD trying on an exhibition RG yacht master. I was thinking that matte black bezel was be so sweet on watch with a bracelet. Now here it is.

I generally agree, and I probably think the Pelagos is better looking, but it should be mentioned that at least the Rolex’s titanium is a higher grade.

I don't really see many use cases for this watch:
- Travel? No GMT (Well at least it won't get stolen in Barcelona or Mexico )
-A Beater? No one will use it will doing anything active for fear of banging into those raised bezel markers
- Does it dress up? No
- Does it dress down? Yes. That's what this does.

If Rolex were to create a Gshock this would be it. Unfortunately that bezel means you'll need to be careful not to even hit a door knob.
On the note of the raised bezel markers. I am under the impression that the bezel on this one is ceramic, shouldn't that make it harder to bang up than the platinum bezel?

I think this new bezel will be tougher wearing but I am actually surprised at how well the platinum on my wife’s YM has worn over the last 10 years.

I think it would be more fragile
- More brittle
- Raised letters expose it even more compared to flat ceramic bezels

No one considering dropping £12k on a Rolex would even consider a Tudor. They are incomparable in all respects. They look zero like one another. Bit like going to buy a Macan but coming home with a Tiguan....oooh....same parent company.....same steel....

YM42 Titanium

Thinking that 42 MM is to big for my taste (would have to see one in person and find out lug to lug length versus the Sub)

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I came into this game wanting a GMT Master 2, but found myself completely fine with the Tudor BB GMT. For the money and hassle the Tudor is a better option to me. But, and this is important, that’s only because I like the aesthetic of the Tudor. And it’s similar to older Rolexes, which is what I really fell in love with for the Pepsi.

If I wanted this watch; there is no way I’m satisfied with the Pelagos. They look completely different. They are completely different sizes. One is sunburst, one is matte (both in dial and bezel), one has snowflake hands, etc.

I don’t think most people will say, “ooh, I like the YM, any old titanium watch will do. I’ll get the Pelagos for less money.”

Must must be talking about the 'baby' Pelagos.

42mm still available, same size as the Ti YM. Compare against that:

Nice picture :)

How does the bracelet feel?

You didn’t by chance ask if it had the ceramic sleeves in the links like the deep Sea challenge?

(Edit: post #55 says SA has confirmed has ceramic inserts in links. This is good news. The pm bracelets have a really nice tight & smooth quality to them).

Yep, this is a home run. Wearing a titanium watch is fantastic as a daily. I'd be running to put my name on a list if I didn't already have a Cermit as my daily.

You guys go ahead and find reasons not to like it, in the meantime, I'll enjoy being alone on the list. Actually how I got last year's Air King in just a few weeks when it came out.
