Agreed. There seems to be a lot of "defending what I own." I hardly think the old or the new is clearly better in every way the way most posts are written.

This ^^^ and I suspect the sensitivity level is heightened when you consider the value of one's "Grail" currently being inflated in the market by 3 or 4X and Rolex pops a new and updated model on you. There is a new sheriff in town....

Time may change me
But I can't trace time... I watch the ripples change their size But never leave the stream Of warm impermanence And so the days float through my eyes But still the days seem the same And these children that you spit on As they try to change their worlds Are immune to your consultations They're quite aware of what they're goin' through....

Happened to me when I had the 114060. Swore by it, tried to make myself love the big lugs, cried privately, then traded it in for the 124060. The good thing is if they want the new one, they will have a very easy time with trade in at their AD putting them on top of the list.

Whats up brother. You gotta clear out your PM's. Or read a few
Back on topic. All I can say is a few things. I'll take either 500's. 11 or 12 But I am not digging any of the WG or RG models. Dial choices are not for me and YG aint my thang I am so glad I have my Chocolate 515 and if I ever get a 505 its gonna have to be the 11 series. But Grey will be to the moon now. Unless one of my S A's has one in the back stashed away or coming in before they unload the 12's. Whatev's Lastly the Platinum Anniversary is

I do not get the fuss either way, they do not look all that different anyhow. Subtle changes that 99% of those out there will never notice. Meh, disappointing "update" in my opinion. Might as well have just left it alone.

I think opinions, especially about the Daytona needs to run deep. It’s a significant watch.
If it were not for the blind irrational passion we have for the brand we wouldn’t be here. I am just impressed the topic of $ has stayed out of the design debates for the most part.

I have to say I’m happy to have the baguette version of the platinum Daytona I guess though, it’s the best and I won’t hear any different!!! I do admire the new caseback though. |

I like both.
I own the 116500 Black Dial … am waitlisted for the White Dial … and called my AD today, and told them I would take either. I asked them, “what are you going to do with all those now obsolete 116500’s (jokingly) you have ?” Their uh hmm answer … “I’m not sure what we are going to do with those.” Uhh hmm … just as we suspected … a safe “full” of them, just waiting for someone to come in and buy some diamond earrings !!! Everyone was asking for symmetrical lugs … they got them … now they don’t like them. I think this is like a car remodel … at first you don’t like the new one as much as the old one … then after you’ve seen 10 to 15 of them, you like the new one better than the old one. Not a big change, really, to me. From 3 feet away no one is going to be able to tell the difference, even us. Side by side, HD, closeup photos, yes … a little different. I would be happy to own either … but I’m not selling my 116500 to get the 126500 … which was not the case with the 11 Series Submariner vs. the 12 Series Submariner … the day I got my 12 … the 11 was gone. |

That’s the sound of the 116500 price dropping and the sound of the new 126500 price rising. All hail the new “grail”.

I’m hoping the 116500 white dial price tanks so I can scoop one up!

Lol…come over to the Ferrari forum. You should see the crying and sniveling of Ferrari owners when the current model they have is replaced with a newer version….400k cars depreciating certainly can get you to shed some tears.
I like the new Daytona. But it makes no difference as I will never get one at msrp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah it is a visual thing for me. I traded my BLNR back for the same reason, I like the better flow from the case to the bracelet and the wider bracelet allows the watch to be more balanced on my wrist.

Yes, very sensitive. Which I get, even if I don't agree with it.
If you have an outgoing model; embrace it, love it, and be happy that it's the one you own. I dig the new one or at least some of it. If I'm buying, I'm likely trying to source the outgoing reference as I like the hour markers much better. But that's all a snap judgement based on the early photos and press. |

Either one is basically unobtainable at retail, so don't really care !

Let a man dream!!! — I was lucky enough to get the black dial many years back from my AD at retail. Sadly, one and done. They won’t sell two to a single customer so no white for me… UNLESS THE PRICE TANKS!

The only big plus for me is the size. If the new one really measures in at 40mm, then that’s a magnificent improvement IMHO. Otherwise, they’re pretty much equal in my eyes.
