MB&F LM101 vs. LMSE Evo

I am a huge fan of MB&F, and have been offered a blue steel LM101 (one of my favorite watches). What do people think between this watch and the LM Split Escapement Evo? I prefer the color of the blue LM101, but love the integrated rubber strap / durability of the Evo.

Are u offered both or just one? If both, can’t go wrong with either. Mostly depends on what you have in your collection. If just one, I would get it. I have RG/ blue version and think this watch is amazing. Wait lists on these is years….

I like the more "sporty" nature of the Evo but not a fan of the dial layout and design. I far prefer the 101. I've wrote before the SE Evo reminds me of a winking pirate. plus if it matters the steel 101 is supposed to be their hardest model to get by a longshot.

EVO is my choice, easy to live with from WR and rubber strap.
Just got EVo last week, it's a great watch

I am biased. I would go for a LM101 Blue steel if it is my first MB&F. Especially the blue steel is supposed to have a long waitlist. You can always get the LM101 now and come back to the SE EVO later. The SE EVO waitlist is shorter so it is more accessible.

Finishing on the SE EVO movement is of a higher grade though.

While the Evo is really nice, i'd opt for the Blue steel LM101.

Thanks for all of the responses. Is the finishing really different between the two? I was under the impression the finishing standard was the same.

I have the LM101 and handled the LM1, LMP, LM Sequential (coming soon) and LM SE. There are more internal angles on the other ones but as to the finishing itself, they are comparable.

They are all great but LM101 Steel is special.

Can someone who prefers SS to more noble metals try to explain the appeal? I understand the Patek hype related to subject but purely aesthetically gold simply is a more beautiful metal.

For MB&F, it is also the rarity factory as very few steel references were made. There are probably less steel references than more exotic materials like palladium or Zicornium.

I mean every MB&F is rear, no? what is production, sub 300 watches? If u include MAD, SS is the most used material to be frank..

MAD isn’t an MB&F. 200-225 per annum I believe.

If you can save a bit and go for the perpetual calendar, I would do that. It's honestly breathtaking vs the 101.

I think they're aiming for 300 soon, Max B said 350/year at most if/as possible in the future.

Very different thing though. The PC is the most complicated movement which is iconic to the brand. LM101 is an entry level reference (I know, at $60k, entry level seems off...) which essentially have the LM line boils down to its esseence.

I would say you need both. :-) Maybe a LM101 classic and a LMP EVO.

MAD one is probably 1500-2500 pieces per year according to the number available for the lottery.

But as others have pointed out, MAD is not MB&F just like Kurono Tokyo is not Hajime Asaoka
