Congrats Ken. Agree GS are amazing watches, the more critically they are looked at the more they impress.

I very much like both of those pieces you have chosen and have considered the 305 myself, also admiring the retro dial of the gmt.

I opted for a time only version the sbgw253 and my most prominent thought is, the design is flawless.

Thanks Gus and I love the sbgw253 as well. One of the best looking GS’s period. Simple, classy and timeless look.

Ken do you happen to know if the lug width on the 305 is 19 or 20mm?

Beautiful pair Ken. I have been struggling to justify spending that kind of money for a watch that says "Seiko" on it for 2 years. I finally pulled the trigger on a SBGA211 about 2 months ago and seeing an endorsement from a collector like you makes me think I am not a total idiot after all. It was not love at first sight but I think someone has said they are a "loupe watch". I was carrying a 10x loupe in my pocket for the first 2 weeks (yeah I know I need help). The more you look into the watch the more you discover how incredibly well finished the watch is. Nothing in that or double the price range even come close. I know a lot of purists look down their nose on the Spring Drive but to me it is a very unique technology that is every bit a mechanical movement. I have worn it for a month straight and it lost 0 seconds! I tried to rotate out with my other watches but I just keep putting it back on because I miss seeing that incredible dial, markers and hands.

Two stunning pieces, Ken! Grand Seiko is amazing and simply unmatched at the price point. I used to own this GMT, which I've been missing for some time now, and have looked hard at the non GMT ivory dial. Hummmmm...

Congrats, my friend!

Thanks my friend and agree with you! It’s the best value proposition in the watch world IMHO. Love that Mt Iwate dial such a great piece almost went with that one as well. The ivory dial is really cool and with the short blue hand has such a retro vibe to it. Super nice watches for super nice price compared to Swiss and German watch makers.

Since joining the forum I’ve always shared your taste in watches. I’ve been on the GS fence for some time and I’m quietly surprised as to your liking. Maybe it’s time I have another look.. thanks for sharing.

Congrats Ken, nice to see your appreciation of the Grand Seiko brand, which I didn't realise you had.

I don't have a GS but if I did it would be a high-beat GMT.
