Who has a TT bluesy with the flat dial ?
Keep getting drawn to the bluesy but think I prefer the flat blue dial to the sunburst .. very little opportunity to see one in person, let alone both together.
Do like the slightly less bling of the flat blue and the fact it matches the insert. Also, I've had a couple of sunburst dials, the blue on the DJ41 is lovely but I have to say I wasn't over keen on the LV, mainly in artificial light. I've read some old posts but not that many pics of the TT bluesy (flat)

I got one, to be honest I prefer the flat dial over the sun burst. It matches the bezel better and it has this in explicable deep depth in the hue of royal blue.

I prefer it - I feel the blues just flow between the dial and bezel.

I’ve had both. Thought I like the flat blue better but then picked up the Sunburst and prefer it more.

I had the flat blue before. Kind of regret selling it. The Sunburst has more depth but the flat dial looks more sporty and is not common.

I was sat in an AD in 2015 when they had both. I picked the sunburst, I love sunburst and I had the LVC at the time and wanted to get the blue versions of sunburst.
But now, as a collector, I wish I had the flat dial. Its something special. Especially on the new case. |

I've also owned both, I much preferred the flat blue, I know the majority rave about the sunburst but found the way it didn't match the bezel looked all wrong, certainly didn't keep it long and don't regret selling it, shouldn't have bought it, lacks taste in my opinion, go flat blue every time

The 116613LB was designed to be flat blue from the beginning. The sunburst was an afterthought or modification, the blue does not match the blue bezel. I had a new 116613LB and wore it daily for 2 years, one day I fell out of bed with it and sold it and replaced it with a new 116610LN and I'm much happier. |

Here’s the sunburst for comparison.
Different lighting between the pic but you get the idea. |

I had the sunburst and traded it for the flat dial a few days ago; arrived today. I really tried to like the sunburst, but it was another competing element on the watch and felt overwhelming (steel, gold, gloss blue bezel, sunburst blue dial). 3 elements is the max I can deal with. That’s why the hulk sub, smurf or any of the other sunburst dials work so well in their configurations. Also, as thesharkfactor said, the original design by Rolex engineers was in gloss blue for a reason as it unified the watch elements to a max of 3 (dial/bezel gloss blue, gold, steel). They were in the minority with that decision, which is why the sunburst was released as a knee jerk after the market responded negatively. Sunburst however, looks great with the aluminium bezel because it has a similar shine.

I had a 116613 Flat Blue- It was absolutely stunning. The color shifted to a light Mexico blue to a dark navy with the right lighting. I am convinced they swapped to Sunburst as they wanted to keep this amazing dial exclusive to the 116619

I prefer the matte blue on the WG sub and the sunburst on the Bluesy/YG.

The flat blue will start to gain popularity from now.
While the music industry pushed Rolex and other luxury products; we did go through a phase of bling meaning everything was ICED OUT and BUST DOWN so between 2001 to 2018 the sunburst was more popular.
In recent times the consumer audience have steered away from bling, nowadays looking at the most sort after models the dials have been more sporty and less punch you in your face bling. Other than the Skydweller it’s hard to think of another sunburst blue dial that demands the type of premium as the market shifts away from liberachy bling and more into quite money. Let’s also reference luxury cars toning things down with Nardo Grey on 911 and Audi RS models, matte black on Aventador, AMGs and G Wagons. The original flat blue smurf dial was only produced for a limited number of years, I believe 3 to 4, and holding onto the flat blue will soon see other’s interest rise towards your nice and rare modern throwback. |

If the new one came back with this, would consider a full gold one. I had the current bluesy 3 different times. Never took to the dial turning neon light blue in the sunlight.

I had the same problem with the Hulk's metallic green in the sunlight, but strangely enough I find the Bluesy's neon blue a lot more bearable, fun even to look at.

I recently bought a 126613LB, thinking I would trade my 116613LB with “Flat / Matte” Blue Dial … I couldn’t do it.
Then I thought I would just sell my 11 Series outright … I have not been able to pull the trigger on that either. I know it’s perhaps silly to have two of basically the same watch, but the Flat / Matte Blue Dial is something special. Just hard to part with … it’s that special / unique / beautiful … that the dial and bezel are the same, is really neat. And that gold print, on that blue dial is special. |
