my final rolex acquisition

Currently,

I have a black ceramic gmt, polar explorer and a sea dweller (plus a couple cheap seikos - sub1k)

I am going to get a DJ roman numeral white dial piece 16234, no box no papers for around usd 3,500.

This will be my final rolex acquisition, a DJ 16234 and close my watch buying chapter for the foreseeable future.

would you guys advise i pull the trigger now or wait for couple more months.

I'd recommend when you find the piece you want pull the trigger. The future is unknown with everything going on - particularly here in the US. The sooner you can start enjoying it the better! Great collection.

Great choice. I would recommend you buy the DJ as soon as you find the one you want. With everything going on (particularly here in the US) where the pricing is going it is hard to forecast. Go for it and enjoy! Great collection.

Seems pretty close to wholesale price. Hard to find right configuration. As others have said, if it’s the right configuration, just buy it. No need to fuss over the last 250 or so. Assume your time is more valuable than that.

Congrats in advance on completing the collection and the will power to stay finished!

I still prefer SS for the robustness of the metal compared to PM.

also it feels less painful should i bang it around :)

Might still see a beautiful piece and you'd be interested.

I think you will change your mind if you wear a full PM piece long term. Rolex proprietary precious alloys are quite robust

I’ll put the remainder cash to better use. And trim down some of my seiko pieces as well. Four rolex two seiko is the optimal size. :) and not buying anything more, keeping six pcs as the cap limit

In future decades, if I come across any nice watches from jlc or glashutte, will trade using the DJ (one goes out should another comes in)

Don’t see myself able to afford such luxuries..
Full Gold pieces are out of my league. You flatter me
Besides, I like the diversity and being able to switch between different models and aesthetic

Should I retire in 30 years time and those become vintages, I might be able to trade two ss sports for one modern gold piece. But nobody knows the future

Good call.

I say get it sooner rather than later, assuming you can arrive somewhere near your target price. As others have said, the future Rolex market is hard to predict.

The private seller was telling me the DJ is running around 35seconds quicker per day.

Does it needs servicing or just regulate?

It sounds like it has been magnetized. That can be fixed by any competent jeweler without opening the case. Many watch fans own a demagnetizer and do it themselves. Good luck!
