Rules for Watch Rotation

What are yours?

Do you stick to a different watch every day? Do you just go with what is more appropriate for the occasion? Are you like me, feeling a need to avoid safe queens?

I wear what the spirit calls me to put on... but, after a new acquisition... it takes some time before the older ones get into a regular rotation... but, that is what the spirit calls for!

No rules... just right...

rules

I want to wear all my watches, but end up wearing my Rolex GMT IIc, thus relegating my GS, Omega, Lange to the safe. Its not that I don't want to wear them. I just want to wear the Rolex more. I am not meant for a collection I guess.

Definitely no rules. Just look at my watch box and decide which suits my needs for the day and which calls to me!

For me it depends on what I’m doing. For work it’s usually my WG GMT or RG YM. Away from work it’s my YG Sub. When I want to feel like I’m wearing a shackle, I’ll break out the Platona!

If the situation doesn't dictate the choice then I usually pick something I haven't worn in a while. Sometimes I let my Magic 8 Ball decide.

I go by mood. I try not to force wear a watch just because I haven’t worn it lately. I have learned over many many years my taste go in cycles. It’s probably why I don’t flip watches.
I sometimes change watches a few times a day.

Different watch every 2 weeks unless it’s brand new and I’ll wear it for a month or so.

For the most part I wear whatever calls my name, but there is one rule: When wearing a uniform, I only wear my well-loved G-Shock. The only exception to that is in a dress uniform in which case I wear a Tag. Otherwise no Rolex with a uniform.

My favorite move has been to a time only collection with the only exception being my travel watch.

I've lately been experimenting with only one watch per month. So I see each watch about once every quarter.

I feel bad because I believe they should be worn but more often. But it really makes me appreciate the one I'm wearing when I do wear it and limits my risk with the others being in the safe.

It has also kept me from wanting to buy something new... But the forums here require lots of self control to not just buy a new watch...

No rules for me. Wear what I want. There have even been days when I don’t wear one.

I used to try to switch them up every few days but for the past couple of years I just wear one for weeks/a couple of months usually until really miss one of my others and then I put it on, again for weeks usually until I miss another one and then switch again.

I found that after not wearing a watch for weeks or a few months I really enjoy getting it on my wrist and bonding with it all over again.

I will wear a normal watch if meeting client or boss, but will wear something more exquisite on a night out or weekend.

Back when I was in the Navy in the ‘90s, I wore a G shock for coveralls, PT, and cotton khakis. For, office work or dress blues/whites I wore my Seamaster. These were my pre Rolex days. It’s curious that a Seamaster Pro drew a lot of attention back then - not a lot of Rolex out in the fleet. Casios ruled the day back then. I always find it curious that Rolexs were sold at the PX/NEX back in the day because they weren’t available in my day.

Today, I just feel a need to get some wrist time on each watch. I guess I just need to let go and follow my heart.

I have 5 watches (Date / TT DJ36 / BLRO / Lange / Tudor 76200). I change the watch every week including the Lange and BLRO. For special occasion, I will wear the Lange or BLRO.

Depends on what is typically new lol. I buy and sell often so typically it's the flavor of the week, or whatever pairs best with the days activities
