Vintage Rolex 6022 Parts?
Hello, I have a 6022 that's circa 1950ish pictured below. This was my grandfather's watch. He died before I was born. I found it in the garage of our house when I was young and my uncle had it serviced and had the crystal replaced around 1985ish? I think the hands were loose inside watch before my uncle took it to the shop as well. I wore it a few times in my late teens/early twenties, did what damage you can see and it has been in a lock box ever since. It runs. But based on all the pictures I have seen of this watch, I believe the hands are wrong. I think the hands that were loose in the watch before the 1985 service were replaced with the hands that are on it now. This has always bothered me about the watch. It needs a crystal and the band needs a little tweeking, neither of which are a big deal. Any opinions here about the correctness of the hands? Any suggestions on how to remedy the situation if the hands are, as I suspect, incorrect? I really appreciate any help or suggestions you can give. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum. . As far as the hands, you could get yellow gold Alpha hands which would complement the yellow gold arabic numbers on the dial. Now as far as the dial, it was common to refinish these type of dials back in the days, which appears to be the case with this example. A second note, my eyesight not the best, I believe this dial should've had a gold tone coronet (crown) on the dial. I can't tell if what you have there is painted on. Can you confirm? If you could post better pictures, I am sure others will chime in. Do you know the partial serial to determine the year of production. That would help you research this model better. |
