My balloon got a little excited and now my wife and her landscaper/yoga instructor/pool boy are stuck 50k ft above Helena Mt where my ranch is located.

It’s really the balloon that I want back most.

Call any friends with a river boat on the Mississippi River. It’s almost a full moon, they should be able to retrieve it with the right ballistics.

Go to Berzt Rent-a-Balloon and add plenty of sand bags to your order of a balloon, then get up there fast. Tie the rented balloon to theirs, then make a switch: you get into your balloon, and they get into the rental. As they are now flying the balloon uncertain of their return date, make them sign rental form to take over payment. Before you untether the two, transfer all the sand bags you brought into the balloon.

Now untether, and let the added weight of the sand take you down slowly. Without the sand, theirs will rise and be difficult to identify. Next, call the authorities and say that the balloon is an intelligence-gathering device from a foreign country. See what happens.

Main thing is you got your balloon back.

P.S. Just saw that your wife and pool boy took a dip in the ocean. Another happy ending, brought to you by Berzt.

Hornet-C At the time I was TAD to VFA 80 off the Saratoga and flew second wing to Mark Fox, who fired an AIM-9L at a Fishbed, head-on at 7 miles, then an AIM 7 a few seconds later; both hit. Splash One! I had the loudest growl in my headset I had ever heard when I called “Fox Two” and pulled the trigger.
