New shoes for my AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition . . .

Last August, I had finally acquired this stunning piece from the NYC Boutique:

My only critique was the default black strap they supplied with it. I just wished it was similar to the one Fred utilized on his vintage piece:

So, I negotiated with them to include the dark brown calfskin strap that comes with the red gold edition, which they had to special order. Unfortunately, between COVID-19 and my travel schedule, I was not able to stop by and pick up the strap until last week:

Well, I decided to finally change the shoes today:

I definitely need more practice on swapping straps!

IMHO it's a much better combo:

You've got to love that domed acrylic crystal:

Although I'm pleased with this combo, I may still have to get a custom strap to get that vintage-inspired look I'm after:

Stunning combination! Heritage models are great, and this one just got even better because of that strap choice.

The domed crystal looks really good. It's Sapphire I'm assuming, correct?

I always thought that watch would look better on a brown strap. I wear my Chronomat Airborne on a similar Breitling OEM brown calf strap.

yes, same for me. tried and failed to change that.

but: google "ColaReb Spoleto" if you like the strap I've been pairing with it.

I know you tried! I recall you previously stating that on another forum. But, thank you so much for that strap info!

Once again, great work on both of these re-editions!

Thanks! It's actually acrylic, not sapphire.

I agree, it looks fantastic on brown leather. It goes very well with the warm tone of the lume. Looks awesome!

The 765 definitely looks better on a brown vintage strap. I never cared for the standard black strap that came on the watch. This is what is currently on my AVI.

Looks great. I like the black, too, but the contrast of the brown strap and its depth of color, a rich, warm shade of brown, complements your watch wonderfully well.

No wonder they paired it with the precious metal version!

It’s a particularly handsome watch which I’ve long admired. Enjoy!
