FIOS vs. 60th Anniversary vs. ck2998

Hi all,

I'm wrestling with my first Omega purchase after many years of Rolex.

I've decided to go with a Speedmaster (for obvious reasons), but I'm having trouble deciding between the FOIS, the 60th Anniversary, and one of the ck2998 (blue panda & Pulsometer).

I'm definitively drawn to the straight lugs and smaller Speedmasters (40mm or less), and I believe these four are all pretty much perfect watches. I know the price on the FOIS is 3,000 dollars less (which is definitely a plus), but all things considered the 60th Anniversary & the ck2998 definitely have the advantage (love the LE dials, the bracelet on the trilogy, etc.). Honesty, it's not hard to see how all four of these could deserve a place in a collection.

So, TRF - what say you? Pics attached from my research.

I own the FOIS and the CK2998 blue panda. I've also tried on the 60th anniversary.

It really depends on what you are looking for, but the blue panda to me is the best looking of the bunch. Something you can wear as a dressier piece or a casual watch.

Also, I'm probably in the minority, but i didn't really love the way the 60th anniversary sat on my wrist

Oh, I think the 60th crushes the ck. The case size is perfection.

FIOS vs. 60th Anniversary vs. ck2998

There are significant limited editions and then there are the ones that have little relevance and just fill out the catalogue. I would choose the former.

I would pock the 60th Anniversary:
The bracelet is so comfortable and there is such a special vintage feeling with that watch.
CK is also comfortable (light as a feather) and stylish, but I found it sometimes heard to read the dial.
You have some excellent choices!! Omega offers amazing variety of luxury watches with some special touch!!

All three are lovely watches and this is such a personal choice. For me the 60th has the edge with hesalite, the simple hippocampus caseback and a bracelet that is so nice........and DON bezel.

As it is such a personal choice, I'd suggest you try them all on a few times before making a decision

The one I like least is the 2018 CK2998 as I find the colour scheme a little garish in photos (I haven’t seen in person mind you). The rest are all solid choices. I liked the 60th very much when I had it but it’s comparatively expensive.

If it was me, I’d go with the blue CK2998. It’s a great watch but quite difficult to find at a good price. Otherwise the FOIS. Like you say it’s quite a bit cheaper and will give you the classic speedy look. I happen to like the brown strap also....with both of these you can pick up a bracelet quite inexpensively to switch the look up.

It would be FIOS for me, perhaps the most versatile piece out of your choices. The 60th left me underwhelmed when I saw it in the flesh, perhaps something about the brushed bezel just looked washed out to me. The other, while a nice novelity is not a versatile piece. That’s cool if you have other omegas in the stable.

I have both a FOIS and 60th. I love both of them, but if I had to pick, the 60th would be the keeper. I love the dial. It’s amazing when paired with the included grey NATO strap.

Personally I’d go blue CK or 60th.

Of the ones you listed I'd go

1) 60th
2) blue panda
3) FOIS

They are all great though, can't go wrong on any of them.

When I bought my last speedmaster a year ago I ended up with the '57 (I wanted the new 9300 movement) IMO they are an incredible buy on the used market. They can be had for a few hundred more than a used FOIS. Which, to me, is crazy given all the benefits of the modern movement.

1. CK 2998 pulsometer
2. Speedmaster 60th anniversary
3. FOIS

In that order.

I’d love a Speedy Tuesday. It’s a beautiful watch. But no way I’d pay the mark ups going on
