Damn Jim that is awesome! Do you need to get everything tightened up regularly from that sort of knocking around? I recall a guy on the 4runner forum built his truck really nice and then took it to Baja and by the time he was done with the race it needed like 20k in repairs lol

Carli designs their suspension systems to be daily driven. After a beating like this I check all the nuts and bolts but really doesn’t need much. Takes way longer to wash it. This is by no means a race truck. It’s basically a better equipped raptor with a Cummins engine.

If he raced in Baja $20k in repairs is a good day. I used to own a race truck and those things are a money pit. If you don’t blow an engine or transmission you’re still looking at like $20k a race and the truck needs to be completely torn down after the race.

Nice truck, but you’re comparing apples to oranges.

End truck purpose built is very different but initially the goal was a weekend truck or SUV with space for 3 kids and all their crap that could go anywhere and do anything with a $150k budget. Came down to a RR, g wagon or custom raptor or Carli Ram. I’ve had 2 other Carli rams and a race truck but didn’t want to deal with the time or headaches in a build. Was lucky enough to find this show truck with almost everything done the way I would of and it had never seen dirt. It’s getting a few rounds of improvements and will be perfect. The limited interior is pure luxury and nicer than my Audi and Escalade. Also like that it’s one of a kind and not the same RR or G wagon in town.

I would have to go back and find the thread but he was running with mostly built raptors and the truck took a beating and a half. The truck was basically not fit for the job lol but he didn't care.

Hard to fault you choosing the ram for the platform with the cummins and all. Should provide many miles of enjoyment

Drove this all weekend tho.

It’s supremely uncomfortable. Very much a race car. My left calf is actually a bit sore because the clutch is so stiff. I drove the Targa a little with my wife last night (she doesn’t like the GT4 one bit) and it’s literally soft in comparison. I was pushing the clutch through the floor (figuratively) because is just so soft in comparison.

But the GT4 goes in for safety equipment this week so I wanted to drive it as much as possible. Can’t wait to get it on the track.

Ha. While I appreciate that it ain’t all roses. I do agree though that I’m living a car guys dream. And I’m as lucky as can be. But it’s one challenge and obstacle after the next.

The car hobby, and the business I’m developing, is the only thing keeping me sane.

I do appreciate the nice comment though. Thank you.

Agreed, drove one as a demo for a short time...felt every road crack and bump in my spine and having a radio is completely ludicrous!

A track car by its very definition.
