Unusual dial on 6426
Newbie to the forum but was looking for more info on this dial option.
I am told it is quite rare and I have struggled to find any information. Would this be an original dial (watch is a 1963 6426) or is it likely to be an after market ? I would love to add a bracelet. Any advice ? Or any for sale ? Thanks in anticipation :-). |

I'm going to have to say redialed, the hands are not origibal, the dial plate is original, but if the movement was exposed to the elements enough to where it changed color, I'd imagine that's why the alpha hands are no longer there and the dial looks crisp as an apple

Originality
Hi All,
I don't want to start a war here, but......... I am the seller of this watch. The original OP committed to buy and then posted this thread without raising any perceived issues with me. He then withdrew from the transaction based on this forums responses. I have personal knowledge of this watch's history and it certainly has not had any work done to it in the past 40 years. It has also only been worn a handful of times in that period which explains it's exceptional condition. Obviously, I can't vouch for what may have happened prior to this. I have been collecting vintage Rolex for many years and have a substantial collection. I examined this watch prior to putting it up for sale and was convinced that it was 'correct'. However, due to the responses from members of this forum I have forwarded high resolution pictures to one of the worlds foremost Rolex collectors (UK based) and he agrees that the watch is totally correct with un-refinished dial / hands and in exceptional condition for it's age. As I say, I don't want to start a war - this is just for the record. Sometimes it's not easy to make a judgement of originality based on condition. There are still some great condition older pieces out there. Cheers. |
