SBGA387G - US Exclusive Limited Edition - why 558?

Does anyone know why the SBGA387G was just limited to 558?

Not sure why they chose that number. I have handled and while it has wonderful quality that GS has, I like the snowflake much better.

Pure speculation... the total number made, including 20 Pt and 50 RG, was 628.
On a presumption that the 8 relates to the month of August, then 1962 was the year when Seiko got a new set of rules drawn up by designer Taro Tanaka, known as “The Grammar Of Design”.
If it’s not that, then I’ve no idea what significance the number portrays.

Someone in a neighboring forum answered for the 58th anniversary of Grand Seiko.
