Just amazing he made it to this age. My favorite role he played was the defence lawyer in A Town Without Pity.

My favorite movie as a kid was “The Man From Snowy River.” He played two estranged brothers (Spur and Harrison) who had had a falling out over a shared love interest years earlier. That movie came out when I was five. I thought he was old then and that was 36 years ago!!!
Congratulations Mr. Douglas! PS I recently bought the movie on DVD to watch with my son. Still one of my favorites! |

I recently saw the movie "Trumbo" which stars Bryan Cranston and chronicles the persecution of 'left-leaning' screenwriters by the infamous "House Committee into Un-American Activities" and the "Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals" run by self-appointed guardians of public morals Hedda Hopper and John Wayne (amongst others)
If the movie story is accurate, Kirk Douglas was the only big star to show any strength of character and stand by Dalton Trumbo, resisting the manipulative Hopper's attempts to destroy Trumbo's life and career. Among Trumbo's credits are the screenplays for "Roman Holiday", "The Brave One", "Spartacus" and "Exodus".
