Back from Service

I was having some difficulty with my new (to me) 1675; and, stranded in Helsinki for a few months, I was unable to send it to my trusted watchmaker. But all was not lost, I discovered a very gifted watchmaker here in Helsinki with 20 years of experience working for Rolex, but who now works for Watch Service Finland.

Jouni inspected the watch and gave me the bad news that it really needed some TLC... and a bath.... and probably some new wheels! Long story short, he stripped the watch and replaced what bits he could source prior to my return to Canada. The main issue, the occasional stalling, was due to low amplitude and a very dirty movement. Some skipping of the Gmt hand was caused by a worn pinion, and an eccentric cannon pinion.

Needless to say, the biggest issue was not with the repair itself, but the location of parts! Jouni put the watch back together running just about in COSC tolerances, but advised me that he didn’t have enough time to source some of the harder-to-find parts that need replacing. Guess what I’m doing for Christmas!

Anyway, it’s great to have it back on my wrist!!

Beautiful watch!! So is this what the 1675 service dial looks like? I have an, in-the-blister-pack, 1675 service dial and for some reason I was under the impression that while it was a matte dial, the lume markers would be "shiny" and not matte.... I haven't installed it in my 1675 because I am still hunting for a set of luminova GMT hands. I personally love the service dial look... I have them on my 1680 and my 5512 and it makes them very useable watches in my opinion. Yes, I know they aren't worth as much as original dials, but I bought them to wear and enjoy, not as an investment.

Beautiful watch, wear it well!!!
