5524G Rotor Noise

I think I read on this forum (but couldn't find just now searching for it) that others have experienced the 5524g to have a pretty noisy rotor. I have noticed that this thing is pretty audible as I moved my wrist around and was just curious to know if this was normal? While my 5524g was unworn and new to me, the warranty expires in Dec 2019, so I have been watching it closely these first few months.

I do like how frictionless the rotor is, it seems very efficient. if I flick my wrist up to my ear I can hear the disc spinning for a good 4-5 seconds!

I posted a video - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RIK...3rTvfypmQ/view

Some of my 5711s had noisy rotors some did not. Patek service told me some noise is normal and is easier to hear through steel than gold. I would assume that would apply to all their rotors. They do use ceramic bearings in the rotors so it should be fine if timekeeping and PR is not affected.

Before I ever bought a Patek I only used to wear Rolex. While wearing Rolex I never heard a rotor before, the first time I listened to my 5396R-001 I had the same thoughts as you. Then I listened to my 5524 and that watch is even louder (LOL)

I have put both my watches on a time-grapher many times (for fun) and there seems to be nothing wrong with them. No beat error, no amplitude error and perfect time keeping.

So i guess it comes down to what you are used to and if the watch is doing its job. I wouldnt be to concerned about it

+3.....^^^.....

I'm quite the opposite.......

When I don't hear or feel the rotor noise on the Rolex Zenith Daytona or any Patek timepieces, I intend to think something wrong with the timepieces....lol.....

Agree! I was curious if it was normal - but it is actually more interactive and fun than my other watches. I catch myself flicking my wrist just to hear it spin - its like having a Patek fidget spinner!

lol, you hear every other noise when you drive electric, though! Nothing beats driving electric, had my EV for almost 6 years and never could own a gas car again!

I know way too much about EV’s. That said I prefer a Lilium jet when it becomes available. The car... nah.

I know some like rotor noise but I found the PP sounds to be like metal on metal grating. Not a pleasant sound at all.

I don’t mind the noise at all. Feels like it will gain momentum and keep spinning

SAME! I thought it was odd that I could hear the rotor on a watch of this caliber. I've been so used to Rolex (my first Patek) being silent. The first time I heard the rotor spin pretty audibly, I called Patek about it. Apparently it's normal and like stated above, more audible with SS watches. Hm. Not sure if I love it or not.

Mine is the same 5167a sounds like metal on metal whirring. Only when the room is completely silent can you hear it, but it's there. Weird.
