I ran my 911 for four years also. Awesome car.

The dealer loaned me a Cayman during a service, and from that point it was (sadly) all over for the 911.

Currently driving one of these. So long as you don't need rear seats...

I was just talking to my friend about this. There is a correlation between an 911 and rolex

I have a 20lb. Spark, but I prefer hardtails. BTW, I was just bullshittin', that's a badass car.

I’m lucky enough to own both too. For me, the draw is timeless design and something special that can be used every day

Or, it could just be people talking about and celebrating their stuff with people that have common interests. Or, it could be a bit of both.

A bit of both, IMO. He may have been a bit harsh, but I get Ryan’s point.

We have all seen humble bragging and outright showing off on this forum. Though, it is very uncommon. It can be a fine line, and it’s different for everyone.

Small example, I hate my fiancé’s LV monogram bag. It’s a peacock showing everyone “I’m an LV bag” but, it’s what she likes. She hates my black epi LV wallet because it’s not that. She says it’s about style, I say it’s showy and pretentious. We disagree. But the one thing we agree on, we like nice things.

I went to Luft 6 today at Universal Studios Hollywood backlot and never have seen so many Rolex in one place. Saw at least half dozen SS white Daytona C's. There is def a connection between people who appreciate cars as art and Rolex

They are both incredibly overpriced right now and neither are particularly rare in reality.

Okay, makes sense. A 911 is a Submariner.

And maybe a Cayman is a DJ41.

So, tell me then, what is the 911 GT3 RS I drove last weekend???

In the past I would agree. But I drove a Lamborghini Huracan last weekend and I was SURPRISED at its comfort and drivability. I could easily see it as a daily driver, like a 911. Although, I will give you that the 911 has better visibility. The Lambo was better than I thought it would be, though.

I'd put the Cayman / Boxster more like the Explorer /Air King than the DJ.

and then:
911 GT3 RS = Sea Dweller
911 GT2 RS = Deep Sea
918 Hybrid = Deep Sea Challenge

I don't think they necessarily go together.
I think both are "accessible" or "attainable" for a lot of people, as opposed to being out of reach.

Having said that, my 991.2 Turbo is the most practical of all my sports cars and is pretty much daily driven during the week. Comfortable to drive, but as fast as anything when required. Plenty of room, with a clear view from all angles. Yes it gets attention, but nowhere near as much as a Ferrari or a Lambo (or even a Nissan GTR). You can still park it without stressing too much as well.

Porsche & Rolex go together because of their similar philosophy, which is evolution over revolution. They are both considered a luxury product even though they didn't start out that way. They are both considered exclusive even though they produce a lot of inventory that would make other brands appear mainstream.
