I very much hope so.

Except that this movie was super hard on Phoenix. Can’t imagine him being able to do another.

I agree that many not liking it are likely not enjoying the sad fact that our society and we as people have a hand in creating some of the criminal element of our world.

This movie was nothing short of genius.

But to lament the violence in this movies vs John Wick or the thousands of other similar movies is typical societal hypocrisy.

Even though I have yet to see this movie, it is very likely representative of the reality of many people in the world who become monsters after being the proverbial "cigarette butt" constantly crushed under everyone's heel. A man can only take so much abuse before the mind snaps, IMO.

Agree.

Believe me, it’s hard not to empathize with his character. Seeing “how” he became the Joker was super interesting.

And for certain I was rooting for him at the end. Not the angry mobs per say, but the individual for sure.

Saw it Thursday night. Really liked it. Walked out thinking “holy sh!t, that is what it is like to be inside the head of someone with severe mental illness”.

Great movie. Joachin Phoenix was incredible. You felt sorry for the Joker at the beginning of the movie as he was picked on and beaten up. And then you just sit in awe as he rides a downward spiral.

Like no other Joker character. Completely different than Heath Ledger character.

Made me want to go home and watch Taxi Driver again.

Love it! Just got home from a 6:30 showing. Highly recommend all see this, Joaquin really immersed himself in this character. Took my 13 year old daughter and she enjoyed it also. There were many sad parts to the movie and many funny parts. I won't say more, go see it!

Phoenix performance was amazing.

Some of the pacing in the first half wasn't great and the main story aspects were a little heavy handed, but I enjoyed it.

Also not anywhere near as violent as people were making it out to be.

Same.

It's like they took taxi driver and the king of comedy and threw some Batman characters in there.

We saw it Saturday. She liked it a lot ... I don't know what to think. The acting was great and they really captured the grittiness well.

I don't want to give anything away, but I'm still a bit puzzled with the ending. But then again, maybe that's what's supposed to happen.

I've heard that "Joker" is the first comics-based movie that has received a major prize in any European film festival. (It has won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival this year.)

(I also wanna see "Parasite", which has won the top prize at the Cannes.)

Perhaps an opening for a sequel. I need to see it again, it was very dramatic and captivating.

I'm pretty sure the local Newark, NJ news makes the movie look mundane! I know you don't live there BTW. No offense meant.

Saw it last night and enjoyed it. Nicely done cinematography and great acting by Joaquin Phoenix. I’d watch it again.

I thought the movie was great.

The beginning is very slow, but somehow I was thoroughly engaged. The acting was superb. The way cinematography sucked me in from the beginning.

And, while Batman does not make an appearance, Bruce Wayne is seen a few times.

The destruction of Arthur Fleck and the creation of Joker is directly linked to the creation of Batman. Without the events occurring in this movie, Bruce Wayne would never become Batman. Change my mind.

Super disturbing film. I smell a ton of Oscars.

I’d never even imagined anyone could beat Heath Ledger as the Joker. But Joaquin Phoenix did just that. I imagine he will win every award he is up for. This wasn’t just good acting. This was a masterpiece.

Impressive is an understatement.

I highly recommend this movie.

Joker was a solid 8/10. Joaquin was amazing and I really enjoyed the story as well.

Parasite was the best movie that I've seen this year (and I've seen a ton of mainstream movies and also a few indies)

Both were well worth seeing but when Parasite was over I wanted to see it again and that's saying something for a guy who's not big on reading subtitles.

Then, I'll definitely have to see Parasite. Thanks.

Parasite has received glowing reviews. Almost 100% on Rottentomatoes:
