The best part... is Mrs ninja has fully approved the Foray into Rm’s. As an alternative of course

Is she a Kunoichi or merely the wife of a Ninja?

I think the Octo is actually unique rather than the rest of the integrated bracelet watches. It’s the only nautilus alternative is actually consider

I think viable alternatives to the higher end Nautilus offerings that I would consider emanate from Richard Mille or the FP Journe sports watch.
If someone really wants a Nautilus, then sure, they'll find a way to get one, be it pay double the price or wait. But demand in the 'fancier than Rolex' sports segment is much higher than the supply. There's got to be a chunk of that demand who's only interested in the Nautilus at RRP and will eventually look elsewhere.

I'm halfway to liking the Octo, the dial just needs a bit more life to it.

Found them to sit on the wrist like a Rolex Sub /height and weight similar , not as slim or refined as a Nautilus .

Other than the AP Royal Oak, don't think any of these new comers are anywhere worthly of being subsitutes of the Nautilus to be frank. Just #metoo offerings trying to capitalize on the recent SS luxury sports watch craze.

Here is a rendering from The Versatile Gent of how a Lange Sports watch may look. Like it?

Got to have a sportier dial than that, otherwise just looks like their typical dress with a rubber strapped on, not convincing.

I don't like it, the clash of styles just doesn't work. I think this reference is a better starting point:

I am kind of new to the watch game, but I always compare it to the car industry. I remember when BMW made the first X5 and there were so many discussions and criticism. How BMW is abandoning its DNA, and then all of a sudden everyone bar Ferrari is making an SUV.

The Macan is the volume maker for Porsche, Lamborghini got one, Maseratti got one, Rolls Royce got one, Mercedes redid the entire line, and BMW now offers in every shape or form. Range Rover for me is the equivalent of Audemars Piguet, they only produce SUV/ sports watches (AP are more than that, but few ppl care about the rest).

I do not see Chopard and the rest as a competitor to the Nautilus, I see them as cheaper options in the same segment. I do not believe that the sports watch craze is a trend, I think it will be the volume maker for almost anybody. The way the SUV replaced the estate/touring as the family car, the sports stainless steel watch has overwhelmingly become the everyday watch, and the best one watch collection.

For me the real alternative is the Overseas. I was in the VC Boutique in Geneva last weekend, and the watch is a killer for the right price. It has 3 straps, quick change option, and it is the perfect one watch collection. I find the chrono a tad too tick, but I prefer it over the three hander. I still prefer the Aquanaut, but if something goes wrong, most likely I will go for the Overseas.

Ferrari makes an SUV. I saw one at a resort we stayed at. So does Rolls, saw one of those too (it looked like a Ford or Chevy).

Rolls does. The Cullinan. Ferrari does not make an SUV. They will make one in the future the Purosangue. But it’s still several years away. You probably saw the FF or Lusso which is a 4 door hatchback.

You saw the Purosangue 2½ years ahead of its 2022 debut?

Was there a car show at the resort? Everything I’ve read is saying 2022 release for the Purosangue
