One auctioned for $77k in HongKong. $62k seems fair

I'm going to say I disagree, there are grails and there are pieces I really like. Those that I call grails will always stay in the collection and I really can't see how they can be improved upon, those that I really like are glorious but I can see how they can be improved upon.

Grail is an over used word.

I agree...

People like me have no grails. But most people believe they have grails because a watch is coveted...Then there is grail worthy...

There is a life lesson... if you make a goal and achieve it, you clearly haven’t set it high enough

As you get older there is great reward in achieving a goal.

May i ask, what watches will always stay in your collection?

Ninja is absolutely right. There will always be a next grail. I picked up my 5270P last year and now I want the 5271P :)

I would be extremely irritated every time I looked at a watch I paid double the MSRP for when the market comes back to earth. Bubbles always burst and it sucks to be holding the bag when it happens. I get it, life is short, etc, and I could stomach a 20-30% premium for a piece I really wanted, but paying 2x would take a lot of the fun out of it even if the money didn’t matter to me.
