All this 5524 talk is giving ME the itch.

Don't know whether I would go for the R or G.

I’m a pilot, I own an airplane, and I love pilots watches. But I really don’t think this 5524 is a special watch and it just seems like Patek is trying to hard.

I fly in planes, don’t own one, and could care less that it’s called a pilots watch. I know way more owners of divers watches than I do actual scuba divers ;). What exactly are they trying too hard at? If it’s pulling me to their brand, their doing a great job!

New strap, more casual look, stealth wealth at its finest!

Agreed. Not a fan of the watch, but rose gold is definitely the way to go.

Another pilot here too...
It ticks a box - they have "tried" - there's other options sure, and it's no Garmin obviously, but then - as above re subs and Daytona, people just buy what they like... Or in this climate : what they can profit from, so I think the former should be celebrated!

CJ Charles La Jolla has a G in stock but in the back. Just ask to try it on.

Every luxury watch brand tries too hard.. I think that's the point.

This forum should get a commission on all the watches it gets people to buy.

I'm secretly hoping the watch is too big for her, and it becomes mine 100%.

when 5524 came out I was in love. Big time.
I was like, this is young, fresh, inspiring. not for everyone of course but inspirational. Btw, thats what PP stands for me! doing unexpected things. not that boring, this year green, than blue and black than blue or more blue...no! being creative.

however,
I tried on 5524 and either it was my way to high expectation or wtf, it just didnt click at all.
I generally have an issue with this thick monsters at my wrist mean while. maybe it is progression bc 10 years ago I used to have only Luminor and IWC BP. Unthinkable today. Even a AP 41mm is too much for my taste.
The 42mm 5524 and 1cm thick clock is massive. My 5711 or daytona is a totally different ballgame. Am I getting old??

edit: still, i admit. I'm not done with my final judgement... I definitely will try 5524G next

Such a great deal for whoever you 'dumped' it on, lol. Got any cool straps that are not (or barely) used?

Same here other than that poor me has to rent the airplane or helicopter to go flying.

I don't like the 5524 for quite a few reasons but this has nothing to do with it being supposed to be a pilot watch or not. In the end it always comes down to if I find a piece pretty or not. I totally see that the stuff that puts me off attracts others. No problem, to each their own!

Obviously, the 5524 isn't meant to be a tool watch for flying. The travel time complication doesn't help whereas a chrono will be useful for navigation purposes, at least in theory and especially if the glass goes dark or the steam gauges run out of steam.

I purchased the 5524G in August this year New, and it is my first Patek. It does seem big over the other Patek models. But compared to other watch makers of such style, this watch is just the right size. I am small built guy, 150 lbs and I find this watch just right. However the 5524G does feel much bigger than the 5270 which is 41mm, maybe its because of the two lugs on the left hand side.
If you are only plan on buying 1 or 2 Patek; I would go for second hand to buy it cheaper. But for me, I would pay full at AD because I want my name on the paper.

People who buy this watch are not using it for navigating I can assure you. Watches are just Cameras or Audio Equipment with the "TIRE KICKERS" with tons of rubbish reasons with only one reason the problem.. "THE PRICE"..! I see it every day in every field I'm in.. When one buys a 12,000.00 Leica Noctilux lens, you will hear that it does not fit ones needs HAH..:)

Pink won't go well with the blue sunburst dial methinks. That blue strap is the best fit, and I love blue!

That 5167 red is kinda pinkish.

Anyone know the strap size that will fit the 5524? Mine is locked up in the safe and I don’t have access to it.

Want to order a new strap for it. Saw some on amazon but don’t know which size to order. Ty
