Own both, and others, but I do understand how people are brand loyal to a point.

I own both but gravitate to rolex when deciding what to wear (between the two)- both are great brands, Rolex just feels more special on my wrist.

I appreciate this site is Rolex bias but I’m interested in how many of you also have Omega’s?
Although this is a Rolex forum, I think a lot of us here are watch enthusiasts in general. I have both, and TBH, I think I nerd out more over Omega. I also fancy Casio, go figure.

These days Omega METAS movements and fit and finish is spectacular. I have owned both along the way but Omega has gravitated to a higher level recently in their METAS movements and watch construction. Their bracelets are now excelent with micro adjustment and their fit and finish is loupe worthy.

My most recent Omega acquisition this summer. This is their master chronometer planet ocean chronograph. The chronograph buttons can be pushed under the water and I have done so on many of dives so far. It is sub 1 second a week movement with or without the chronograph running and is using the superior dual barrel mainspring that regulates its power reserve more accurately thought out its entire range. Ceramic rotor bearings, etc... If your into movements that excels in every category then the cal.9900 is the movement.

The Omega vs Rolex rivalry is mainly kept alive by uneducated fanboys of each brand.
It’s not Ferrari or Porsche? The correct answer is both in the garage.

Mr Mystro, I find myself liking your posts quite a lot.

I’m wearing a Rolex at the moment, so there’s that.

But I so far prefer Omega it’s not even a contest.

When I see a Rolex on someone I’m thinking “okay, that guy might know watches. He might be an enthusiast. But he’s likely a douche bag that bought into the marketing”.

When I see an Omega on someone I’m thinking “okay, that guy might have gotten lucky. However, he’s probably a cool dude with a true appreciation for the watch”.

I own both. Love both case styles of the omega and rolex. I find that my omega’s offer a more sportier look to my attire even though rolex can pull it all off anyways

I have both and have always valued diversity in my collection. I have had breitlling, IWC, chopard, seiko, citizen, hamilton, etc. lately and largely due to the emphasis on wrist presence by Rolex, gravitate more to omega’s offerings now days.

Or perhaps that indicates only that one brand has been far more astute than the other at branding.

The average person in the street thinks that Rolex is the epitome of the high end watch when in reality Rolex is arguably really the king of the tool watch category for the most part.

Always keeping my eye open for my first Omega. Haven’t found it yet. Not a fan of skeleton hands, not a fan of that He release valve at 10:00 and think the moon watch is too delicate. So I’m still looking. Not actively, but keeping an open mind. I am interested in the world time that will be hitting dealers soon. I think it’s a 43, which should fit me nicely. We’ll see.

I have both. I love Rolex watches and they feel special but so does omega. I have the Apollo 8 ceramic and it’s like nothing Rolex would ever do and the finishing on the ceramic is out of this world.

I tend not to worry too much about resale, but as watches I love both equally and there is certainly a place in anyone’s collection for both. I always think those that only do one brand potentially miss out on some fantastic pieces. Variety is what it’s about for me.

This is an awesome looking watch, love that orange. I have my eye on the Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon. As you say, fit and finish are spectacular, and there’s something about that moon dust looking dial.

One big difference is you can walk into an AD today and easily buy a new Omega (... maybe even with a bit of a discount on the MSRP).

Try getting a new SS Rolex at an AD. Good luck.

The only thing that I think is objectively true is that Rolex watches in general hold their resale value much better. The way to avoid that is to buy Omega watches on the resale market. My Omegas were pre-owned. The Bond SMP had never been worn. Not everyone wants to buy a pre-owned watch, though.

Currently both make outstanding watches. Both have made iconic watches as well. Take away the resale argument (which is dumb especially if you never plan on reselling) then it's even more obvious that both brands are tops. Buy & wear what you like. All else is nonsense.

I think they are very similar in feel and fit, but I do like that Omega are more daring with their aesthetics and make more flamboyant colours and styles, but then Rolexes, by being more conservative, are generally better balanced.

I have both.

Speedmaster Pro aside, I prefer Rolex's offerings, think Omega technology is at least as good, quality is equivalent, and prefer Omega's image. That's my $0.02.

Here's something that hasn't come up yet, maybe because as far as I can tell it only applies to one Omega watch right now, but it's still worth mentioning.

The new 42mm Seamaster Pro 300 is a great timekeeper (by all reports - I haven't bought one - yet) and a very attractive and wearable watch - at a price point (new) that's a really great value. I'd like to see more of that from Omega.

I think that's the perception Rolex wants people to have through their marketing and positioning. Omega is on par with Rolex.

Every time I try to buy a Rolex. Something else comes up.

1st time, I was after a Submariner and the 2500c Planet Ocean came up (let go later on due to defects with the movement)

2nd time the IWC Pilot 3717, my favourite all time chronograph

Two weeks ago, the submariner got pushed aside again for this

Never regretted my decision. The SS shortage made the decision easy time time around, but I still would have gone PO over sub in the end.

Fuelled by perception not just quality. Both have models that are of equal standing.

I see the SMP comparable to the submariner, the PO to the Seadweller

Same here. The SMP would be the watch I'd keep if I filed for bankruptcy

I recall us sporting our 2500's on the forums back in the day, looks like we both upgraded. Stunning watch!
