To all those storing watches in bank safety deposit box...

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/sa...es-recommended

I saw a post today where someone was saying all of their watches were safely tucked away in the bank deposit box.... this article is eye opening in the least, especially knowing most boxes are insured to $500

We have had a few of these threads over the years since SDBs are not covered if something happens. Thats why I have a fire rated floor safe at home.

Sure, it happens, but the chances of it happening to you are probably very small.

I've never thought anything in a safe deposit box was insured, just thought it was a safer place to keep items. However I use my own safe at home

Unlucky SOBs with safe deposit boxes here. This is a couple blocks away from me, earlier this year a car lost control, crashed into one of the glass walls and started the fire.

My safe deposit box is at another Chase bank...luckily this one didnt have the size I needed.

Disasters and crime can happen anywhere and nothing as far as I know is 100% safe, but currently the best option for me for storing my expensive watches is my safe deposit box at my local bank.
