7,000 fake Rolex watches are steamrolled in Philly

Found this article, quite a good read and a tad mind boggling considering the operation and it's size.

Yea that happened a while back in April. 24,000 watches seized with parts to make another million. One individual??? A copy of the video is here.

It seems to me that government should just make it illegal to own a fake and levee a fine and destroy the item. That would put a quick end to all this nonsense.

Based on the recent thread here, I can imagine how that policy would end up:

"Rolex don't make a watch with a lightening bolt hand... here's your fine... now where's my hammer..."

I think the problem lies in the fact that most people can't distinguish the real deal from the fakes anymore. It takes a few months on TRF before being able to say with any certainty that any given watch is fake or not. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure there are some terrible looking fakes that any random person could determine as a fake, but my guess is that they are the exception to the rule.

Imagine a police officer walking up to you claiming your watch is fake and taking it away. Although you have some 5th Amendment due process rights, I doubt you would be thrilled about a hearing and/or trial to determine that your watch is indeed genuine.

They should melt them down, and scrap the aluminium
