"Panda" Dial on Vintage Daytona?

I see some vintage Daytonas, esp ref 6263, advertised as having a "Panda" dial. What does this mean? Is it only on white dials?

I gather Panda dials are more desirable than non- how much of a premium should that add to the purchase price?

Panda Dial is a black dial with white sub dials or vice a versa. They do seem to bring a premium.

Panda is all of the above as it is not an official Rolex name but one given by watch collectors.

The "Panda" dial is specifically a silver white dial with black subs.

I actually hear people call the silver dial combo a Red Panda. Again--Panda is black and white--even I can discern that!! Nothing but nicknames anyways from all of us in Rolex Land!!

--the Panda bear (cute pic) would imply it's plain white dial with black subdials

Don't want to get too technical here, as I realize this is just lingo people have made up, but if there is a consensus as to whether "Panda" is appropriate for all three of these dials, or just one of them, might as well have that information...

And pics would definitely be welcome (it's always fun to stare at vintage Daytonas!)

All 3 combos have been referred to as Panda dials over the years. I have even as stated heard "Red Panda" on silver/black combo. At the end of the day-Rolex calls them Daytonas. Just as today many a dial is now called Paul Newman dials--again not by Rolex but by us in Rolex Land. Why? Because he wore one in a movie called "Winning"--movie posters were shown of him wearing it in Italy and supposedly on a magazine cover. So--now we have so called Newman dials. And don't forget Big Red's etc. etc. So-at the end of the day you can call it what you want--but it is simply a Daytona with a nice dial. Here are a few pics of my 2 vintage Daytonas. The first is a 6263-aka "Big Red" and the second a 6262 with brown subdials-aka "Chocolate". I have it on a strap now--changing it back to bracelet tomorrow--although I kind of like the strap! Best of luck in your search.

The dials are silver but come across as looking white (or a "champagne" off white) in many pictures, hence my silver white description.

Hopefully this is not confusing.

.. as far as the "premium" question is concerned there are other factors which determine the price, be it the black dial or silver dial.

Condition, originality, accompanying paperwork/service history/boxset/purchase invoice, that sort of thing. Not to mention the rarer models and variations of the Valj. movement Daytonas.

There could be a black dial for sale $5-10,000 more expensive than a "panda" dialled 6263.

Of course not all Panda dials are Rolex dials as well. There are more then 4 Omega dials that are known as Pandas. The Apollo 11 35th anniversary is just one.
