If my Rolex didn't make a ticking sound, I'd be worried!

You need a friend who talks about Rolex, not fakes, which we do not discuss here.

All mechanical watches "tick" in some fashion, otherwise they wouldn't work. A Rolex "ticks" 8 times per second.

Under a pillow, mine not only ticks but has that great 'hum' It changes timbre over the course of a full minute. Really cool to put oneself to sleep by.

Try it. !

As long as the second hand is making a sweeping motion you're fine.

People often confuse the sweeping second hand with no ticking. Holding a Rolex close enough, or even under a pillow, you can hear it working :). Now go buy one! They are awesome.

Me too. It's very soothing to me, reminds me of being little and listening to my dad's watches.

If you place the watch with the croww down on a chest of drawers that is empty - you can even hear the whole furniture resonating with the watch. Serious. Try it out. :)

Wow.....another awesome shot. How are you guys capturing the motion so clearly? I can barely take half decent shots of things not moving at all.
