Fremstar Point?

I've been on this board several years now.

I know we have a distinguished member named Sam, who goes by the username Fremstar.

I also know that we have pointing threads all over the board.

What I did not know is that there is a term in use called the "Fremstar point" that means pointing at something expensive while wearing an expensive watch.

Has anyone here heard this term used in this context?

Sam, if you're on board, did you know that your username is gaining currency in the English language?

Here's how this came about.

On the Honda forum, a guy asks people to post pictures of their window visors. He's not getting much response, so I post the best picture I have of my visors, which also includes a bad wrist shot of my Sub.

This is the conversation that ensued.

We may be getting somewhere here.

I just found this rather lengthy post in a thread by FremStar in which he uses the term.

It's in post #104.

It's still strange that a guy would use the term and not know who FremStar is.

Wow, I need to let the context simmer a bit, I'm not sure which came first, the saying or the username and since I usually guess wrong I'll need to edu-ma-cate myself further

I don't know how you could use the term if you didn't know Sam or this forum. It's out of context and doesn't make sense.

Obviously to us,Sam is a great friend, and Fremstar is in the TRF Hall of Fame, but I didn't know that Fremstar is now a figure of speech(not sure if it is a noun or verb!)
I do miss seeing posts by Sam!

It's been a year since Sam posted. It thought, since I don't read every thread, that I was just not catching his posts.

Prior to hearing it was Fremstar I always attributed that gesture to Dan Pierce.

The "fremstar point" is fairly popular on Instagram, so I don't doubt that someone could get confused as to what it means. If I person is just sifting through the Rolex hashtag (which is littered with counterfeit purses and bullshit), they'll stumble upon someone doing the point, and they won't get the context.

Haha! This is great! Thanks for shedding light on this Grady! From what I am aware the term "FremStarPoint" was started by Dino (Dingoo93) I guess it has picked up steam on Instagram as folks all over the world have been doing it and using the hashtag #FremStarPoint, I've even been asked this question plenty of times during interviews about the origin of the term. In closing/retrospect I would say the point is another way for fans of horology to have fun with the hobby while enjoying special moments!

Here are some parting shots!

I've read everyone's comments and hope each and everyone have a safe and happy holiday! I'll catch up with a few of you guys offline!

Thanks again Grady! Be well folks!
