A G-shock in your collection?

This weekend I made an impulse buy when I picked up an all-black G-shock that I've always wanted to add to my collection (Sub, Planet Ocean, and several other entry level lux watches). I'm not into huge watches, but the G-shock is light, comfortable, and looks right at size. It now fills the "beater watch" place in my collection and I actually love the look of it too.

We in TRF live in an exclusive community of watch collections that span values of $1,500-$150,000 (and probably more!), but I wonder how many of these collections also feature a G-shock! And, of course, it didn't happen without a pic! I like the all-black look, the analog/digital layout, and the silver hands. Enjoy!

Nope. I have a quartz Stuhrling Original Dive watch as my beater.

It is very comfortable, has kept perfect time for almost 2 years, and has survived a beating.

Every collection should have a "G" or two.

This is a GW-5000 1JF. It has a full metal case with a screw down case back. I have it's evil twin with the negative display also.

They are perfect for hiking, biking, yard work, shooting, or traveling to places in the world where your arm will get cut off for your Rolex.

I like your style.

A "cousin" - my GW-M5610-1BJF.

I don't personally understand the G shock passion that so many share...but I got one for my son...does that count?

I bought ny first G Shock in 1989 and sold it in 2007. I have bought several since that time, mainly solar with atomic sync models. I love them for travel (as a 2nd watch) and for working out.

I have a Solar Atomic DW-5600 and an old Gshock from the PX in 1987 with a screw down caseback. I have 2 G's and another 3 Casios altogether,

I have always wanted to move "up market" on the G Shock line. But when I start getting to the brass tacks of it $400+ gets me real close to many good entry level auto's.

No G-Shock here, and I don't plan on ever adding one. Too sporty and plastic for my tastes.

Any true WIS can appreciate any watch.

GW5000 is the quintessential G.....a must have!

The newer GW9400 is my favorite.

Yes, I have a G-Shock in my collection. I use it for doing anything where I don't want to wear my Rolex. I play sports in it, do manual work in it, go to the gym in it etc.

I had one. It was stolen when my house was robbed.

I got another. Traded it for 5 bottles of water during a 150km bike race. I ran out and was desperate.

I will not get another.

Yup, they make a fantastic watch.. I really like mine! I bought it when my sub had to go in for servicing... I needed something to wear. I went for the solar / 'atomic' G-Shock... no batteries... syncs nightly to the time.

A G-shock in your collection?

Here's mine. Solar and atomic so absolutely no maintenance. It doesn't get much wrist time though. I find that even on the weekends, I really prefer my AP or VC and the times I may beat on the watch I just take it off. But mine was $150 and it isn't going anywhere
