Advice Needed
Hello!
I came across someone locally who is interested in selling his vintage Rolex. I have limited knowledge for vintage Rolex but have been wanting to purchase one for a while now. Any advice would be helpful with this one. Correct me if im wrong but from my research and to my untrained eye it looks to be a 1980's Rolex Datejust ref. model 16014. It also looks to be heavily buffed if im not mistaken. Any more info on this piece would be gladly appreciated. Would this be a good first piece? We haven't discussed about price yet but he mentioned maybe around $3500. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I agree. I might haggle it down to $1,000-1500 and see if he will consider. Might be a good restoration project. I would look for one here but unfortunately, I live halfway around the world so its too expensive for shipping and not to mention import taxes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Remember the wise words of this forum- buy the seller not the watch.

Well, the photos are so bad and the the crystal is scratched up, so it's hard to tell for sure what's going on. I actually think that case looks pretty thick for a DJ. The shine on the lugs could be sleeve polish from through the years.
The bracelet is stretched out and I have my doubts that the crystal is authentic, which could either be minor or a red flag. The magnification looks off. Here's my DJ for comparison. |

You're right. The magnification does look off. Didn't see that one. Thank you for pointing it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
