Scratched Ceramic Bezel

As the post title suggests, I've managed to do it in the last few days somehow and first noticed it yesterday. It's not a biggy, but it's irritating me simply because I know it's there, you can probably make it out between the 23 and the triangle in the photo there. It's definitely not big enough for me to consider getting the bezel replaced, it'll wait until the service in x years time. I guess I'll be less and less bothered by it over the next few days.....

I don't see anything. My philosophy is that if you're worried and complaining about scratches this small, then maybe u couldn't afford the watch in the first place?

You bought the watch to wear. Things that get used will show wear. Enjoy your watch and your life. Or else lock the watch in the safe and continue enjoying your life. Be happy

PS - chances are your rehaut doesn't line up with the hashes on the dial, the cyclops probably isn't perfectly centered over the date, the bezel insert may be slightly off, the minute hand looks to be slightly left of the minute hash even though your second hand is 10 seconds past 12. And you have scratches all over the PCL's on your bracelet...see where I'm going with this?

It's possible it's also, the residue from whatever scratched against it...

I agree that it's there to be worn, but it's nothing to do with not being able to afford it. It was more an annoyance about the "scratchproofness" of the ceramic, I should have been clearer in my post, I admit.

Ceramic isn't scratch proof, it is just more resistant to scratches. Big difference.

Indeed, hence my use of quotation marks. I suppose I had too much faith in the resistance which is my own fault .

First, telling someone what they can or can't afford based on how they appreciate and/or treat their belongings is silly and ignorant.

Second, Rolex cerachrom is supposed to be virtually scratch proof, and while I've never seen or experienced a ceramic bezel scratching, I'd be pretty pissed off too if one of mine happened to scratch.

That said, I also don't see any scratch from this picture.

Very well said. I would add, that it may just be residue / smudge as another member suggested. Have you tried to clean it with soap and a soft tooth brush?

Yea I tried a few ways of cleaning it but to no avail, it's definitely a scratch. Sounds like it hasn't really shown in the photos from what you guys are saying but it's right there staring me in the face .

It sucks but from what I hear, the price of a new one sucks way more.
The pain definitely subsides with time

That's like saying if you can afford a Ferrari you shouldn't care if it gets scratched!? Seems a strange thing to suggest that caring about his watch means he wasn't able to afford it in the first place...

I agree as to it being ignorant. My first thought wouldn't be whether or not it can be afforded, but seeing and knowing the bezel is scratched and simply not liking it. I would be annoyed also and most likely have it replaced, but that's me and my OCD. Everyone is different.

I do wear my watches like they are supposed to be worn and don't mind scratches on anything, excluding the bezel and crystal.

I'd be more bothered about the scratches on that PCL.

Best way I can describe it is that the top left of the triangle is "pointing" at it.

Completely agree with this. I can afford my watch, but doesn't mean I don't feel upset when it gets scratched and damaged during daily use. I know we all eventually get over these things, but it still annoys many of us.

Have to simply come to terms with PCLs. They will get scratches! No question about it. Rofl

Genuinely not bothered by those, the watch still comes up shiny and good after a thorough cleaning. The ceramic scratch bugged the hell out of me though, not gonna lie, most probably because it was less expected.

This might be true if you are buying a watch like a Submariner for its intended purpose as a diving tool watch, to be used everyday on a boat, with tanks, etc. However very few people on this forum use their Rolex as a tool watch. We are essentially wear the watch as jewelry, and/or to be admired. Like the poster above said, if you can afford a Ferrari, you could still be mad if your BMW gets scratched. You could argue, it's a car, it is made to be driven and scratches come with that, but it doesn't mean that you can't be mad when the car gets scratched.

I didn't see anything until OP explained where it was. The one on the SS bezel of my Daytona is far worse but I've learned to live with it. Watches get scratched, the world still spins

Didn't notice it until OP pointed it out, but I bet it is more obvious in person. I know if I were to scratch my watch even slightly I would probably notice it every time I looked at my wrist.

Don't think this warrants concern though, for me at least its just one of those things that you gradually learn to ignore. Right after is the worst, every time you look down you get mad at yourself for being so careless, but eventually it just becomes part of your watch and you stop noticing it.

Like you said, you can always get it fixed at next service but I'm betting by then it won't bother you nearly as much!

I always think it's hilarious that Rolex touts the scratch proof-ness of their cerachrom bezels, but they always come with plastic bezel protectors on them.

I don't see the scratch in question. I'm sure it won't bother you in a few days.

try using an eraser on the "scratch." I personally cannot see it, but you know your watch better than us. Good luck with it.
