Is the price for the 116509 Daytona 18K white gold watch always the same for the 116508 Daytona 18K yellow gold? Is that why it's not listed for the 116509?

YG models are always cheaper than WG/RG equivalent (for Rolex).

WG and RG are always the same price. So 116509 is the same price as 116505.

ps: that's not the reason why 116509 isn't in the chart. The reason is I can't report every model, so I made a choice.

Thank you very much. I'm learning as I shop for my next watch. From your chart then I see the price of the WG Daytona is US $37,450 vs US $34,650 for the YG Daytona. Whereas the SS Daytona's AD price is fixed at US $12,400 and the AD doesn't usually negotiate that price --- it seems that they are negotiating the prices of the WG and YG Daytona. Is that because the price of gold today is less than what gold price these prices on your chart represent?

How much gold is in a Daytona anyway?

Total weight around 205 grams. Remove glass, dial and movement....
Maybe you end up with 140-150 grams.

Cheers,
Alexander

Maybe that was true many moons ago, and hopefully will come to pass again...

I found on the internet that the price per gram today of 18K gold is $32.13. Thus, if 150 grams in a 116509 Rolex that would be about $4,800 worth of gold. Maybe the 116500LN is a better value than the 116509 even at the inflated prices common to the grey market.

True -- your quoted gram price is for pure gold, but we are talking about 18K gold.

.

did you see the title of this post ?

within the sentence "2018 Rolex Prices Across Countries" there's "across country" , but there's also "2018 prices".
"2018 prices" means "actual prices", because we are in 2018 actually ...

there have been no price modification in the US since june 2012, and the date in my chart is the date when I first seen these particular prices ...

I have made this list for a lot longer than that. Just never published here before starting to publish it.

That being said I think it's publicated on TRF a lot of time before June 2017 ...

example : https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=425447 , I am unable to find other posts like this but there have been many ...

On my french forum this list is available since 2011.

US is one of the most expensive place to buy a Rolex today. VAT isn't included there, opposite to most other countries.

Here's comparison in US$ and taxes excluded for every country.

Winners (actually) are UK and Japan.

Winner is actually France. Or some parts of it, in the Caribbean. St Barths 116610LN was a hair over 6400.

6400 USD sounds like a winner by far. Among the advertised prices with yesterdays exchange rates I get

The European prices you're quoting from Rolex already include VAT/Tax. The United States price you're quoting from Rolex is before tax. That equates to 2 errors in this chart for the United States (also may be applicable to Asia, I forget).

1. The second column "relevant if you're buying and get tax refund" should be the same as the first column. There's no tax refund to be had, you haven't paid any tax at that price point.

2. The third column with "relevant if you're paying typical tax" should be more than the MSRP.

Easy to forget that USA pricing on everything is always before tax my friend :P
