Magnum PI pilot ordered

So cbs is going to reboot Magnum Pi!!

Will they go with Rolex? BLNR? GMT? Omega like Bond switched too?
Thoughts? I know I’m excited Magnum is what got me into Rolex!

Based on the plot Magnum will probably wear a gshock for first season before series getting cancelled.

Cagney & Lacey? really?

TV has jumped the shark with all these reboots

No way! I wanna say this is great news but how are you going to replace that perfect original cast. Can’t be done. Love the concept but yea I can’t picture this. The original hit perfectly.

Finally, the perfect vehicle for Ashton Kutcher and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Agree, hard to imagine this without Tom Selleck,

Speaks to the lack of imagination in regular TV network programming. I liked the original series but please network dumbasses please stop doing this right now. Can someone name me a series re-spin that ended up being as good or as successful as the original one? Some could argue the Star Treks but that depends on what you consider good.

^^^^^This. Hawaii 5-0, MacGyver, and now Magnum PI and Murphy Brown?

Other viable candidates: Mission: Impossible, The Rockford Files et al.

On the other hand, a remake of 'Leave It to Beaver' (but with a different theme/concept) might be entertaining.

A post Robin Masters 'Magnum PI' starring Tom Selleck might work as a periodic 'Made for TV' series but Tom Selleck has commitments to Bluebloods and time constraints may not allow for this option.

To bring in some punk/Millennial actor to portray Thomas Magnum is an abomination as the fictional Thomas Magnum had a noteworthy (Viet Nam era) U.S. Navy military career prior to becoming a private investigator in Hawaii. The same could be said of his associates.

A tattooed Magnum in a 'hoodie' riding a skateboard (in lieu of the Ferrari) while listening to hip-hop music on his iPhone wouldn't quite cut it. Then again, anything is possible as there is no accounting for taste and/or TV viewership.

Married with Children is in a league of its own. Al Bundy was a 'working class' hero and a long-suffering husband/father. A fictional and dysfunctional scenario portrayed at its worst/best.

Modern Family is 'Yuppie-Ville' and their pressing issues are trivial at best. It's kind of hard to feel sorry for a wealthy old fart married to Sofia Vergara or Phil's ongoing neurosis. They can afford to be 'troubled'. Al Bundy had real problems (i.e. a lack of finances, insensitive wife, lousy job/car, questionable offspring and no hope for the future).

Ironically, Ed O'Neill is now on Modern Family.

Thought 'The Office' was a pretty funny show, though it may have been considered an 'adaptation' rather than a reboot.

X3 There was a magic with the first show, IMHO mostly due to the genuineness of Tom Selleck, I am extremely skeptical that can be recreated and am afraid they will try using a millennial as BC describes.

I was a big fan of the Office. Unfortunately they are rebooting this series as well.

I don’t know. They could make Magnum an Iraq/Afghanistan veteran, which could really work.

We don’t all fit your description above.

He was Bas, as an extra in a police station. If I remember correctly, Gaijin was a cop in Honolulu at the time and appeared in a couple episodes as.... a Honolulu cop
