Wearing Rolex to work in trades?

Any blue collar tradies out there wear their rolexes while working?

I flip houses so I’m always working on different projects and general construction. I like the idea of wearing my 14060M or 16570 all the time. After all they are “tool watches”. However, a little more risky than desk diving.

Anyone else wear their rolexes while working with their hands?

Can't speak out of experience because I'm not blue collar but I don't think I would..

And if I did, I'd put a cool strap on the watch.

Sure do, and for the past few months a SS SkyD blue daily beater means never being taken off including when working on cars, off-road bicycling, the beach, hot tub, etc. Only time off is when cutting the lawn and during drumming due to feel preference (also remove all rings, etc.).

I work in production. Constant setting up and breaking down gear. Loading and unloading gear. Work 14 hour days on location. I usually wear my Tudor black bay or my LVC on production days

Tool maker buy trade, 10 hours a day, CNC machining, Bridgeport milling, lathe turning, I wear one of my Rolex watches. I have four in rotation, GMTs and Subs.

I know a stonemason who wears his Sub no-date on site. Excellent man.

I work in the outdoors, teaching/ guiding sports like ski touring, climbing, mountaineering, canoe/kayaking, mountain biking canyoning etc. I wear my Explorer for pretty much everything except MTB because of the weight of the watch jumping about on my wrist (and the risk of me coming off), and climbing in the summer due to the abuse it would get on the rock face. Climbing in winter is fine as it's safely tucked away under a few layers.

Before i retired as a Marine Engineer/Shipwright I used to wear my DSSD on occasion when doing hands on stuff.
It has been underwater(below hull) and submerged in some pretty manky bulge water with an emulsion of all imaginable things.

These days in retirement, i spend my time working on and around multiple rental properties that are either being constantly up dated or renovated to varying degrees.

Work in a factory and wore my DSSD for over a year. Before that I wore my YM. Lots of heavy machinery and working with tools. 100% a hands on job. No need to baby the watch. It was made for every day use.

Leather Craftsman...not as hard on watches as other fields/trades but definitely a 'hands on' occupation. Wear a GMT and DSSD without issue.

I am a chimney sweep, and don't wear mine for work, too much risk of this getting the crystal scratched or chipped, I wear a Timex expedition, which has been with me for a couple of years now, and is now becoming difficult to read in certain light due to scratching.

I'm in trucking and I wear my sub or Explorer. I prefer to wear the Explorer. It's the perfect watch for work. Not too flashy and understated.

I've been wearing my 16800 Sub since 1986 or so. On construction sites daily wearing it no matter what I do. If I was operating a heavy demo hammer I would take it off and put it in my pocket. otherwise I have plumbed, painted, excavated, mixed concrete and mortar, anything you could possibly imagine. Its been overhauled at least three times and many parts have been replaced by Rolex NYC.
I would recommend you wear it, get a different watch to wear when your not at work.

i am about 70/30 office to field work. I spend a fair amount of time on commercial construction sites. I used to wear my 114060 SubC often until I had a site superintendent make a comment about my "$20,000 Rolex". I have to work with people from the top of the food chain down to hourly site people. It may sound silly but I now stop and consider who I will be in contact with on any given week, I pick a time piece that I think will be most appropriate.

There have been tons of posts hers about who notices your watch and who doesn't. My experience is more people notice than are willing to comment. The superintendent episode made me sensitive, proper or not. As for the watch, it can take pretty much take whatever you are going to bring it.

I drive dump trucks. Mostly Super, but occasionally Transfer or Bottoms. Explorer II almost every day, but occasionally a Speedmaster or Seamaster if the mood strikes me.

Marine mechanic in the military, I’d love to wear my sub and I know it can handle it, but it would get trashed. My G shocks get trashed, and I don’t have a budget that would allow me to trash a sub.

For the last 18 months or so I have worn my 16700 pepsi virtually every day, I decided I really wanted to enjoy it to the full. I do general house maintenance covering carpentry ,some plumbing, kitchen or bathroom refits etc, all aspects covered, I always used to wear a different watch to work but decided life is too short .
My TT GMT 2 and Daytona are just kept for best though .

My old 16600 dweller never left my wrist from when new in 1990 apart from 'the bedroom' and for a service at 5 years. My day time career was white collar travelling and client-facing. The watch endured major house renovations many times. In that 10 years of service It was not polished at all and had the finest Wabi one could dream of. (if you like the well-used look) It sold at a premium price to a guy who still has it, serviced and not polished although it had some replacement bits for the internals along the way and for the clasp which made it look weird but unique. So wear with pride and unless you really have a bent for 'nice and shiney' don't fret!

In my early ill-health retirement I now enjoy a 114060 and don't mind the scratches as and when they appear but not being very active it is pretty blingy still...

I work in O&G and have seen plenty of nice pieces worn by roughnecks and even roustabouts. Didn't matter where it was, on rig in the GoM or in the oil sands of Kazakhstan.
