FSOT: Heuer Autavia 2446c First Execution 1969

A beautiful example of the Heuer Autavia 2446c compression case chronograph with the iconic Valjoux 72 movement from 1969. The case is one of the better ones I’ve seen of these with original bevels and super crisp caseback inscription (usually you can’t read the caseback at all). The watch was serviced/repaired approx 6 months ago by Tag Heuer’s vintage specialists in Switzerland and has been worn sparingly since then, hence the reason for the sale. They replaced the previously damaged dial (due to poor crystal installation prior to me owning it - the glue they used to fit an incorrect dome crystal created a reaction with the dial and started “eating” the dial from the outside edge inward for lack of a better term) with an NOS dial with beautiful patina from TH’s parts stash as well as an NOS correct beveled crystal which is rare as hens teeth. These two parts alone in NOS condition are worth several thousand dollars. Everything was completely gone through and the watch performs flawlessly and looks beautiful. The patina on the original hands is a half shade lighter than the dial patina but is close enough for me to not want to alter it. Ultimately, an excellent example that’s recently serviced and ready to be worn for years to come.
