Gold Oyster bracelet Plated or real gold ?

I have a Gold Rolex Submariner with oyster bracelet - bought it new in
1990 - its a daily wear too. I have diffeerent people telling me, the bracelet is only plated - not real gold 18k or 14 k. Which is it ? bought the watch from a dealer who is not in business any more back in 1990. cost then was 12,500 dollars -

any help is appreciated !

Phil

what does the hallmark on the back of the case say?

However if its a gold watch it will be way heavier than a SS one so its not hard to tell if its solid 18K gold or not.

If it was purchased in 1990, then your friends are right! The 1st layer of the plating should be 18k Gold! And underneath that layer should be....wait for it....wait for it...Gold too!!! Rolex never made a Gold Plated Oyster Bracelet!!! So...assuming your watch and bracelet are authentic...you have no chance of having a Gold plated Rolex Sub! The only part of this equation I’m having a hard time with...is of this really were your watch, and not...say someone else’s watch that your just trying to find out about, then it seems to me you would already know this to be true...as would show on your papers?! As a previous poster suggested...why not show us some pics?

Not so fast, Rolex most certainly did make gold plated oyster bracelets. They did for their gold capped watches in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The solid gold bracelet may have been swapped out for a plated bracelet a long time ago. The plated bracelets have distinct marking to show plating as compared to stainless or solid gold so photos will put the issue to rest.
