I have an E serial Oysterquartz. I believe that would make it 1990's. The Dial says T swiss made T, which to my understanding contains some amount of luminescence material which I think is tritium. I was wonder what the life is on this luminescence material because no part of the hands or dial markers glow. I inherited the watch from my grandfather in 2004 and even then it didn't glow, i was just wondering if this is normal or should it be glowing now.

Tritium has a half life of 12 years, so the tritium is probably dead and will longer illuminate the watch.

I'm not sure how long it should last, but my wife's 40yr old Rollie still has a little glow to it. It also has the T Swiss T on the dial.

My 40+ year old wife dosen't glow in the dark either.

When this happens, he kinda gets his words mixed up when he reads other guys posts here.

Jocke, he was talking about his wife's 40 year old Rolex. Not his 40 year old wife glowing!

However, I will say that I do enjoy it when Jocke gets his words mixed up! Sure makes for some interesting photos!!

Mine's a little over 20 years and it's completely dead for glow. But, still a very cool watch IMHO!

Mine in my avatar glows enough to read when I wake up at 3:45 am - after my eyes have been closed for 6 hours - it is a T serial 1998 so right now it is about 12-13 years old -

My 14 year old daughter does not glow in the dark, nor does our 12 year old cat. My wife only glows when I buy another watch. Of course, she also has laser vision.

My 1972 Air-King is a -T SWISS T- dial, and it will only glow for a second or so after an intense light.

Dude....those are sunspots...tritium doesn't react to light. It is radioactive.
