Rolex 1630 Datejust, Oysterquartz case Prototype

For sale here is a very rare find. The iconic Oysterquartz case made its debut with the 1570 automatic moment, and the result is a truly incredible watch. 5.4M serial puts it at 1977.

This is not a quartz watch! It has the iconic 1570 movement, working flawlessly within +/- 2s a fast.

This and the quartz watches are the only examples of such a drastic, angular case design, and it really stands out.

What makes this particular watch so special is that it has never been polished. The fine angles and surfaces on this case all but disappear when it is polished- see other examples of this on ebay.

I've tried to capture the crisp lines in these close up pictures so you can see the detail. Sure, it had the typical scuffs and marks of a 41 year old watch, but since the case and bracelet are brushed, they do not stand out. The edges do, however, and this is a watch that is hard to look away from.

Another derogatory feature of vintage two-tones that this watch does NOT exhibit is bracelet stretch. This watch appears to have been very rarely worn, and there is no wear in the gold center links. Bracelet is tight. Clasp clicks tight.

Looking for $5000 via paypal or wire, shipping included. Polished, saggy versions of this watch can be found on ebay for less if you want one of them. The price I'm offering here very reasonable, but please make an offer if you disagree!

These are quickly going up in value (~$1k per year), and this is a true investment-grade collector's watch.

PM any questions! Free shipping in US!

$4700. Sharpest lines I've seen on one of these, tight bracelet. Gold is not worn away at all.
