ckpeters experience

Paid in full with Paypal fees after sending multiple immediate references and a word document with multiple references. I get no communication and no references in return. I text and email for some confirmation that payment is received. He refunds PayPal and now it is tied up for several days so I can't move on any other watch. He did this without a return text or email.

Maybe you can link to the FS thread in question. He's had three on TRF recently.

Seems not everyone shares your negative experience.

Jeez man. You're talking about a sketchy transaction, and he's saying "yeah I saw a watch he was selling for suspiciously cheap." Totally within the realm of normal and relevant conversation in my book...

Bought and paid for. Sent him references galore and asked him to text or call or email them, a copy of my DL, talked on the phone at length about the process, paid him via paypal. Got refunded late last night with no heads up. Now, my money is in limbo for God knows how long. I have to call paypal today and see.I cannot move on another watch until my money has been returned.

So, he refunds paypal and sends a curt email saying he is no longer comfortable doing business with me and " you have set off every red flag there is." What the ****? after I gave him a ton of recent deals, my drivers license, I asked for nothing in return as we talked on the phone. However,he did not check the references and I did not hear from him all day to see if he got the label and the payment. Just a refund and message late last night. The entire worry and burden was on me. He had all of my contact information from DL to my LinkedIn as well as multiple references that were ready and waiting to be checked. I had nothing but a phone conversation and the few feedback he has here.

Is what it is. Puts me in a bind for week or so. Not to mention the fact I wanted this particular gen 1 dial Deepsea. Everything was fine until last night. That is my NEGATIVE experience CorradoBrit. I am just sick over this whole thing. Ruined my weekend. It was the only Deepsea within my budget, unpolished, original owner etc. Now I have no watch and no money until Paypal gives it back. Won't find another Deepsea at that price either. I am both nauseous and mad.Take it or leave it.

You are getting a refund so I would not sweat it.
Seller was not comfortable anymore proceeding with the deal. Happens but nobody lost and nobody got scammed.
A new first generation DSSD will come up for sale again

I once too emailed and PM'ed ckpeters multiple times regarding of his TT Sub 16613LB as soon as he posted it up for sale but not a single reply or email returned back to me. Asking price for his bluesy was really good if I remember correctly.

Could you expand on one point about the PayPal?

I read that FS post you provided and it was silent on payment method. Noticed the same about the other 2 FS posts he made too.

Did he ask you to PayPal him and give you his email addy to pay?

Correct. We agreed on Paypal. I just got off the phone with them. 3-5 days for the money to be returned to my bank account. Guess I will spend this week looking and hopefully next week moving on something else.

I have really said all I have to say and am about to kick off a very busy week of travel for work.

What's done is done. I am just passing a word of caution.

I believe the intent is to let us know the watch he was selling was perhaps unrealistic in it's ask.

Anyway, hope this works out and keep us informed. Always buy the seller not the watch. Happens all the time, people get so enamored with saving a couple dollars and then this stuff happens.

Thanks for that additional info.

I’d sure like to know why a seller gives permission to pay via PayPal and then doesn’t complete the deal.

That is something the seller should address here and now.

Thanks Joli!

I have always liked the font on the dial of the Mark 1 Deepsea better than any of the rest. One will pop up again.

ckpeters has been made aware of this thread, and has been on since he was aware of the thread. So I guess he doesn't want to explain. Take that as you will....

Hey guys look. I still think the seller is legit and in no way a scammer. People just have different ways of thinking and needs of communication and reassurance. I have been doing this since 1998 and have seen both sides of the spectrum. I really don't want to sully Chuck's reputation over this.

He is reachable via email and text. I am upset about the deal, but I will be getting my money back. **** happens. After thinking about it, what I have posted is accurate, but after discussing it with him I reaffirm we all make mistakes. At this point I am neither endorsing nor being critical. Use your own judgement and make the call. YMMV

I don’t think this should be deleted and could be turned into an instructional thread for legitimate buyers and sellers which seems to be the case here. Many of us have been on both sides of a transaction as buyer and seller and lived with that “feeling” once the money flows and the watch ships until the transaction is concluded with two happy parties. The seller here developed a “feeling” before he shipped that watch that sent red flags up in his mind and caused him to reconsider. The buyer played by all the rules but still the seller had that feeling in his gut which many of us have experienced before. Communication issues aside it would be helpful to know from the seller what those feelings were which gave him pause. This could potentially help other legitimate buyers and sellers in the future. Nonetheless, i am glad that the parties here have worked it out and hope the buyer finds the watch he is seeking! Best

IMHO, the thread should remain and the resolution is worth keeping.

Each transaction rests on its own merits and losing the memorialization by deleting the thread would dis-serve TRF members.
