Even a modern bracelet can be thrashed in a few years time if you don't take good care of it. Solid links or not, doesn't matter.

Some serious pressure must have been applied to that bracelet, how was it being worn to do that, maybe way loose and stressed when bending the wrist?

I remember years back a guy posted pics of his ceramic gmt. He wore it daily to construction sites, if I remember correctly, it was also beat up and “stretched”

Probably a combination of never cleaning and wearing it loose. And then never taking it off either.

And many on forum think the so called solid link bracelet is always better than the older type.When in the real world if worn on the wrist correctly, looked after with regular washing cleaning, both will last a lifetime and beyond.

No serious pressure, just well known wear caused by dirt grinding pins and links from the inside.

Moreover, according to Rolliworks stretch repair is harder to do on solid links bracelets. Maybe ceramic pin collars will help in the future, but nothing can beat regular cleaning.

I see so many 6 digit references on wrists in NYC. Nearly all of them worn loose like bangle bracelets

Part of me really likes seeing modern watches look like this. Reminds me that there are some people that just wanted a watch they can wear all day, every day, wherever they are.

There are no ceramic sleeves on this model. But, your point of maintenance is well taken. As is wearing with a good fit.

Some wear them loose and floppy and down against the hand instead of above the wrist bone. That would cause excessive wear and undue stress on the links. The bracelet on my YG Sub is around 15k to replace so I obviously am not aiming for a result like that!

Since the bracelet was over polished, I’m willing to bet that some of the polishing compound got in there and was never cleaned out.

Don’t forget, the SS was first sold in summer of 2007. Could be as many as 12 years old. Shouldn’t make a difference but still, if unrelenting abuse - that many years can take a toll. Mine is nearly that old and not a hint of stretch.

Wow... I have the exact watch. While I never baby it, it does seem to have a slight "stretch" since I have owned it in the last 9-10 years... good thing its not that bad like in your photos though... thanks for sharing.
