Cracked my ceramic armor.

After almost 5 years of wearing it most every day, Married wearing it, Countless miles traveled,Lots of hard work done and rough play it happened. I started to reset bezel to 12 and found it was very stiff to turn. Then I see a piece of ceramic missing. I don't remember any hard knocks and I had not dropped it, but here we are. Not looking for sympathy, as I am surprised after what this watch has been thru it hasn't happened sooner. Just a few questions. Will Tudor/Rolex fix the bezel only without complete service? The movement was serviced not long ago and as I mentioned I don't recount any major hits to it. I live in the Boston area and looking for a AD that maybe has an in-house Watch maker that can get parts to repair local. I know the later may be a stretch. But any input would be great. Thanks people.

Edit: This is my favorite watch of all I've owned. Just want to get it fixed as quickly as possible. I get a bit anxious when I can't have it close. I know this may seem foolish as its a material object but I very much consider it a piece of myself.

Sorry this has happened afraid one of the many downfalls of ceramic bezels hit them they will crack/shatter, hope its not to expensive to replace.

My concern with ceramic is that they pretty much all will fail eventually from accumulated knocks. Like splitting a paving stone. I could be wrong of course.

The fact these ceramic bezels aren’t going to patina or show age, makes it that much easier to come to grips with a bezel replacement. Unless- it’s a mark 1.... never mind.

Not foolish at all. As a matter of fact, I would venture a good many of us feel the same way about our watches...or we wouldn't be here.

No idea on the cost, but I wouldn't think it would be too bad. Especially when we're talking about something so dear to you.

Oh, and as a dear friend of mine is fond of saying, this is precisely the reason you need at least one other watch in your collection.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I think that Longs Jewelers in Burlington has an in house watch technician that may be able to help you out.

Sorry it cracked! I wonder if Rolex’s ceramic bezels are as likely to crack!

Wow, no history of a big hit? Ceramic will not scratch with day to day wear, but the material is brittle. So we should expect to replace these occasionally.

Cracked my ceramic armor.

Could it be cactus juice?

Sorry for the crack, they do indeed become a part of you. Good luck!

So glad my GS diver don't have ceramic. It doesn't give a better finish, it's so expensive to replace while a metal bezel cost nothing.

I do have a few others, But my Pelagos is my everyday watch. My wife gave it to me as a wedding present 5 years ago. Just can't seem to take it off.
I'm hoping Tudor parts are more accessible to ADs.

It's refreshing to hear someone who's really invested in his watch.

Personally, I'll never understand the flippers.

For me, every watch tells a story.

Based on this statement, I think that you should just replace the bezel insert.

Now thinking the case and bracelet can use a touch up also. Wouldn't mind seeing it restored to its glory days. Im just a little nervous that they would want to replace the mid case as it has a piece missing/large ding that I've polished smooth with 4k grit paper. Thanks for the compliment. This watch has been dear to me since I married. But I have flipped a few others.

That stinks! The bezel is pretty big on this model. Guessing more wide the more sensitive to being hit.

I wouldn't polish anything!! Just fix the bezel.

Nice watch!!

They won't force you to do a service, you can just replace the bezel.

However they will definitely try to sell you a service. If the watch runs well, don't fall for it.

Kinda like when you take your car in for new tires and the mechanic tells you the radiator needs to be flushed and belts need changing. lol

Should be easy to replace but not cheap.

Second post today on a failed bezel. Lots of folks love to defend the ceramic bezels here, but Long story short, ceramic is good for jewelry, aluminum better for day to day and use as a tool as intended.

Rolex will not refinish any titanium watch. You will have to go the independent route if you want it refinished.
