FS: 1986 Rolex Submariner 9.4m 16800 Transitional Pumpkin
Hi TRF!
I have enjoyed this piece long enough and now it’s ready to move on from the collection. Vintage can be a very complicated piece to price - and there are never apples to apples comparison. Please read the details carefully, and ask any and all questions away prior to purchase. This is a Rolex Submariner reference 16800, with a serial of 9.4m dating it to 1986 or 1987 depending which source you consult with. The dial, as I received it, has a very, very deep orange “pumpkin” patina. This glossy dial variant is beginning to turn matte (as is characteristic of the vintage glossy dials) in certain areas. My hope is for the next owner to be able to have it age completely to matte in his/her ownership. The dial also has an ultra trendy galaxy / constellation dial. In certain lights there are white spotting present in the dial, which can be attractive to the right buyer. This is due to minimal exposure to moisture sometime in its life. Rest assured, the movement and case are free from rust / moisture damage. The hands originally came as service replacements, I knew it would be difficult to find the correct shade of pumpkin to match the dial. I set forth a hand restoration through the very highly regarded team over at LA Watchworks, using period correct material (tritium). As you can see, the hands perfectly match the dial, and the tritium lume is the same material used for the restoration. Along with the hand restoration, LAWW performed a case disassembly and clean, as well as a water pressure test where they replaced and reoiled gaskets as necessary. A copy of the receipt for the hand restoration and the services performed (totaling $485) under LAWW will be provided to the buyer. I just want to clarify, the movement did not go through a service overhaul with LAWW. The case remains strong and sharp with original chamfers prominent. The bracelet is original 93150 with 593 endlinks, correct for this model. I provided videos and pictures in direct sunlight as well as in the shade to see how the dial is in various lights. I’m asking $8,500 OBO. I accept wire, Zelle, PayPal F&F/G&S +3%to those with solid references. I’m also open to, and much prefer, a face-to-face in Los Angeles or Orange County. I have plenty of references in TRF, Facebook, Watchexchange, WUS. Please buy with confidence. All sales are final. Please let me know if you have any questions, either through PM or email at mrs_la@frontier.com Feel free to connect with me on Instagram @1mrsla Thanks for looking!
