FS: Heuer Bundeswehr 1550 SG

Greetings,

Up for is sale is my Heuer Bundeswehr 1550 SG. This one is special because it also comes with a bracelet made for the Bund case by Sinn (more on that below).

Model: Heuer Bundeswehr
Reference: 1550 SG ‘3H’
Year: Circa 1974
Case No: 9206
Material: Stainless steel
Dimensions: 43mm diameter; 13mm thickness
Crystal: Plexiglass
Lume: Tritium
Caliber: Automatic Valjoux 230

The Heuer Bundeswehr was designed for the sole purpose of use in military aviation. It was General Issue for pilots in the air forces of many nations (including the Italian Air Force, under the brand Leonidas, which Heuer acquired in the 60s) but is best-known for its use by the Luftwaffe of West Germany.

This watch possesses both the flyback chronograph function as well as a hacking mechanism. It uses the manual winding Valjoux 230 flyback chronograph movement which beats at 18,000 vph and has approximately 48 hours power reserve.
Its dial bears a red 3H-symbol just below the dial center (indicating luminescent material of the dial numerals and hands being the hydrogen-3 isotope - otherwise known as Tritium) as does, and a tiny “T” that appears just above “6”

My example is being offered with an extremely rare bracelet option – being fitted on a Sinn 155 Manufactum bracelet. Sinn took over post-production servicing of Heuer Bunds for the German military in the 1980’s. This arrangement eventually led to the Sinn 156 and the 155, a continuation of the classic Bund chronograph. The limited edition Sinn 155 Manufactum was produced on a strap with a small number also offered on a bracelet. These Sinn cases used an identical case as the original Heuer Bunds – so the endlinks and bracelet fit perfectly on the Heuer! Giving this example a truly unique option between switching from strap to bracelet.
The piece also comes with a brand new supple 4mm thick Mays-Berlin Ronconi strap with a Heuer pin buckle. 20mm wide throughout complementing the Heuer’s tool watch aesthetic.

Overall Condition: Monocoque stainless steel case is in very good condition with sharp lugs and minimal signs of wear from age and use. There is a small mark on the case side between the lug hole and reset pusher. Dial and hands are in great condition with crisp printing and minimal signs of numeral lume degradation at 10, 11, & 2. Luminescent elements on the dial and hands have developed a beautiful patina. Case back is in very good condition with military markings "BUNDESWEHR." and "6645-12-146-3774." Watch and chrono function perfectly.

Selling Price: $5500 bank wired. No Trades please.
Shipped and Insured in the CONUS
I also would welcome a face to face deal in West Los Angeles area.
