SUB41 vs SD43: pic loaded, side by side comparison and caliper measurements.

Hello, WIS buddies!

I was very happy the other day to get “the AD call”, whom I’d like to thank. Didn’t expect at all and it was a very nice surprise.

Anyway, I was curious about a comparison between my 1yo SD43 and this new SUB41 so I grabbed the calipers and did it.

Now I’m on the list for the JC SDDS, to complete the trilogy.
Hope I’ll back soon with that one and also thoughts regarding wearing and comfort issues.

Enjoy!

Congratulations on the new sub! Two amazing watches. Thanks for providing these accurate specs. Any chance you could take the measurement for the thickness of the new sub? Cheers!

I’m sorry you did show thickness. For some reason all of you photos did not load at first. Thanks again.

Congrats on two excellent watches! I own the same SD43 as you and a 2018 Bluesy. Awaiting the new green bezel Sub because green has always been my favorite color. Thank you so much for making the time to take such great pics with measurements.

I guess the taper is quite a bit more on the SD43 bracelet - i was expecting more than a .5mm clasp width difference!

Also, interesting clasp length is the same.

Thanks so much for doing this!!

Can't believe it took this long for someone to post proper diameter measurements from 10 to 4. Definitely puts the 40.5mm diameter rumor to rest.

Very much appreciated. At the end of the day, as the months and years go on, many will likely adjust to the 12x sub's new size!

Congrats on the Sub date! Also, great job taking these comparative photos and measurements, it's really helpful. Kind of interesting to me how the clasp is just about as wide and the same length as the one on the SD.

Your diameter measurements look high. I have measured my SD43 a few times and have always come within .1 mm of 43 exactly. When I get home I'll measure mine.

Interesting how close the clasps are in length and width. Makes the clasp look a little big on the Sub IMO.

And now, it all makes sense.

The SD43 foretold the future design direction of the next gen Submariner. The proportions and look are exactly the same — just shrunken a bit. Seeing them side by side reveals the extreme similarity.

I am confused too, as the diameter number of the new sub seems about 1mm more than those from other sources

Thanks OP for the great work and these pictures are very helpful

Yes, the bezel diameter has been measured as less than the 10/4 case diameter.
