Rolex produced outstanding and durable watches for over half a century. The Oyster Perpetual Datejust lineup has seen very few changes over the years aesthetically speaking but some oddities were introduced to the market at times. Back in the 1950s, the gold quotas didn't stop Rolex from distributing as many precious watches as possible. In fact, various markets were allowed to find ways in order to fulfill the high demand. This specific Rolex "No Ref " Date-Just - yes, you read it correctly - is an absolute oddity. Being produced for the french market only, Rolex provided all parts and mandated French agents to case the watch, therefore the eagle head hallmark.

This Rolex Date-Just is powered by a caliber 1065 and housed in a very intriguing 34mm 18kt gold case. It bares some fancy lugs and an unsigned crown. For many collectors, the devil is in the details and this one has it all. The dial itself is in mint and untouched condition, displaying a rare "Perpetual only " print - the watch not being offered in an Oyster case. The watch also comes with the original French made Gay-Freres extensible oyster bracelet in rose gold-plated.

After all, what would be a unique piece of the French Rolex history without the glorious provenance from a well known and respected dealer. This One-Owner example comes full set with the chronometer certificate, the warranty cigarette card as well as the authorized dealer box and business card - all stamped Leon, 222 Rue de Rivoli, Paris, 1er.
