Does anyone have Hodinkee insurance yet?

So I just got a quote for Hodinkee insurance and was pretty reasonable for about 9 Rolex and 2 APs. I have not had insurance for over a year. I canceled Jewelers mutual after one of my friends was not paid for his watch after a claim was made.

He had a 40k piece stolen. Everything was on Ring camera still found away to not pay him. He is taking Jm to court. Read all the bad reviews. Insurance is always good until its time to pay a claim. They also asked to see all his bank statements for 1 year lol

I’d stick to mainstream honestly.

What was JM's argument to not pay?

I have it but did not claim anything yet. I like that it was easy to set up, no appraisal needed for my modest collection, it is underwritten by Chubb, and that they pay agreed value.

Just out of curiosity, what was the quoted permium per $1K of insurance? I'm at $5.95 per $1K of insured value per year through State Farm. Curious if it's worthwhile looking.

Where is the value base from? at what you originally paid for or gray?

I'm certainly excited to see more options available, so will be paying close attention.

I'm with jewelers mutual and would happily switch providers if the terms appeal / the rates are better.

Dang, that's a really good rate. I just did a quote through JM and was shown $90/yr for an estimated 6k ($15 per 1k) value for my 36mm explorer.

Hodinkee is around $21 per 1k according to their website: https://insurance.hodinkee.com/

got some quotes recently on hodinkee and they were ridiculous. $1000 to insure an AP at $25000, $800 for $20000. on JM that watch is sitting at $300 for $20000 right now but i have to get it appraised and update the value some time soon

Yeah, when I looked at JM, it was way more than State Farm. Never checked Hodinkee.

When I had my only claim (a stolen watch), it was seamless, smooth and, contrary to what people have said, it didn’t make my rates go up or get me cancelled.

I found that Hondinkee rates vary significantly depending on your zip code. They wanted 2.1% across the board to insurance all my watches.

State Farm is charging me 1.2% on all my pieces except my DD40 (1.8%). Will stay with State Farm in the meantime.

I started a Hodinkee policy for a few of my watches. I also still have a JM policy. Hodinkee is 1.2% vs. 1.5% with JM.

For everyone who has responded thus far, have you all gone with $0 deductibles? Or something else?

for sure related to zip codes, just weird that it's such a big discrepancy

Didn't see this thread before I made similar. Crazy about the claim denial.

I insured 4 rolex watches in about as many minutes this morning on hodinkee. I pay 2.0% with a vegas zip code.

Pretty happy with the very easy sign up. 2% is expensive but so is the rest of hobby.

From what I saw $0 deductible is the only option.

I got an insurance quote with State Farm for my dad’s new Sub. It’s $60 a year to insure it at purchase price of $10K. Really cheap vs JM and others and covers pretty much any scenarios we can think of. $0 deductible.
